    Overview: Reception quality

Reception quality describes the signal conditions and data errors affecting a received television service.

Signal strength and signal quality measure different properties. Uncorrectable errors describe a later result after the reception and correction path has done its work. Reading those observations together is more informative than selecting one high-looking signal number as proof of reliable programme delivery.

    • Signal strength
TV signal strength is a receiver-reported input-level measurement or estimate whose units, calibration and observation context determine its interpretation.

    • Signal quality
TV signal quality describes receiver-specific digital-recovery measurements such as carrier/noise, modulation-error or correction-related observations rather than input power alone.

    • Uncorrectable reception errors
Uncorrectable reception errors indicate data the receiver’s defined correction stage could not recover, with counter scope and later media dependencies determining their significance.
