KegTapper 8 Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 Thanks to everyone here my Remote settings have been working great. What is everyone using for their Cloudflare firewall rules? Page rules?
rodainas 191 Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 For page rules the most important setting is to avoid caching data so: Your Domain Cache Level: Bypass 1
Carlo 4561 Posted July 15, 2021 Posted July 15, 2021 Why would you want to use a proxy and not cache static pics? Caching pics is one of the ways Cloudflare makes your system seem to be faster to remote clients.
rodainas 191 Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 (edited) Thats no the main reason to use cloudfare, sure image caching is a plus and is nice but is the less relevant of the benefits. Some clients with a specific ISP have peering issues when connecting directly to my remote server. When using cloudfare their speed to the server improves dramatically. I get better performance than them when connecting directly, but using Cloudfare basically gives me the double of the speed when connected directly. I tried catching the images with cloudfare giving specific url with wildcards but could not make it work, the reason I use bypass is not about the images, if you cache the streaming traffic cloudfare could easily ban you because it is against their TOS (using the free service), so if you have the images example url to add that rule as an exception for caching am all ears. Edit: This gave me an idea instead of using a rule to bypass everything on domain, I will try a rule just to bypass the cache just for video streaming: domain.com/videos/*/ Have to give it a time for testing and measuring, hope it works. Spaceboy 2573 Posted July 16, 2021 Posted July 16, 2021 i had to disable image caching on cloudflare as it was causing issues with properly refreshing some web pages for other services. The likely benefit to emby really didnt seem worth the effort given the same images are not that likely to be reloaded frequently
