Diedrich 377 Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 (edited) Docker server version: 4.6.4.0 I have "A Quiet Place (2018)" in both 1080p and 2160p. I was watching the 1080p version to make sure that it had subtitles for the sign language portions of the movie, it didn't, so I used the web app player to download the matching EN-forced subtitles from OpenSubitles. It grabbed the subtitle but then no subtitles were displayed. Even after a refresh of the movie's detail page and metadata, no subtitles were displayed for the 1080p version which I used the download feature on. I then checked the folder structure to find out that the subtitle download feature had downloaded the EN-forced subtitle for the 2160p version and was named accordingly. In my opinion, the 1080p subtitle should have been downloaded since that was the version that I was watching when downloading the subtitle using the web player interface. embyserver.txt Edited July 14, 2021 by Diedrich
Carlo 4561 Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Hi, I take it this 2 movies are joined as multi-versions. What you need to do is unjoin or split them. Then edit each one to download the SRT you want it to have available. Once you've done that rejoin the two movies back together as a multi-version (3 dot menu). Can you give that a try and let us know how you make out?

I'm not sure if my folder structure is what you are referring to - here it is: *** After encountering the issue in my OP, I manually downloaded a .srt for the 1080p version and named it accordingly. I didn't understand what you meant by splitting my versions. My folder structure screenshot above is exactly as it has always been. The only difference was that there were no .srt files before I attempted the subtitle download for the 1080p version from the web app player which ended up downloading the subtitles for the 2160p version even though I was currently watching the 1080p version. Carlo 4561 Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Forgot this changed. Here's the way to split versions now from the detail screen.
Diedrich 377 Posted July 14, 2021 Author Posted July 14, 2021 Here was the sequence of events: The folder structure was as in the screenshot above (minus the .srt files) I began watching the 1080p version from the web app. I used the subtitle download feature from the web app. It found a corresponding EN-forced subtitle which I downloaded. The subtitles were not displaying. I looked into my folder for A Quiet Place and found that the 2160p EN-forced subtitle had been downloaded instead of one for the 1080p version. Knowing there as an issue with getting the proper 1080p subtitle, I manually downloaded and renamed a subtitle and put it into my A Quiet Place folder.

In my opinion, there is still some logic that should be looked into with the subtitle download feature to ensure that it's pulling the srt for the correct version (the one you are currently watching). 1
Diedrich 377 Posted July 14, 2021 Author Posted July 14, 2021 For reference, here are my settings for the Movies library:
Luke 42083 Posted July 19, 2021 Posted July 19, 2021 Quote I looked into my folder for A Quiet Place and found that the 2160p EN-forced subtitle had been downloaded instead of one for the 1080p version. How did you determine this?
Diedrich 377 Posted July 20, 2021 Author Posted July 20, 2021 22 hours ago, Luke said: How did you determine this? Because that was the only .srt file that was present after using the subtitles downloader feature and it was named after the 2160p file that was sitting next to the 1080p file.
Luke 42083 Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 When you used the web app player to download subtitles, was that from inside the video player?
Diedrich 377 Posted July 21, 2021 Author Posted July 21, 2021 (edited) 1 hour ago, Luke said: When you used the web app player to download subtitles, was that from inside the video player? Correct. I was playing the movie in 1080p even though 2160p was available, noticed that I needed subtitles, pressed the subtitles icon, selected "search for subtitles". Result was that no subtitles were being shown. Checked the folder structure and saw that a subtitle file was in fact downloaded but was named as the 2160p format. Edited July 21, 2021 by Diedrich
