Files on external drive not found

I have a 4 drive external enclosure with 4 hard drives. Emby server recognizes all drives but does not show movie files on one of them.  I have full control for EVERYONE on the drive.  Out of all 4 drives I do have problems with folder access permission on this particular drive.  “You do not have permission to access this folder. Press continue to access.”  Once I press continue I can access this folder no problem in the future.  About 20% of the folders do not have this issue but yet those movie folders are not shown in the library either.  When I try to remove security properties for EVERYONE on this drive and then add it back again it fails on all the movie folders that I do not have access to.  It applies security properties to the rest of the folders. Yet I still don’t see any of the movie folders/files in the Emby library. How do I fix this.

Hi it sounds like you need to reset the parent folder permissions and use any options to apply to all folders under this parent folder.

That should reset all folders under the parent to be the same as the parent and allow Emby to find the files.

Do this to your external drive:
1. Right click the problem hard drive and Choose Properties...
2. Choose the Sharing tab...
3. Click Advanced Sharing...
4. Click Permissions...
5. Check all 3 of the boxes to Allow sharing full control and everything and make sure to hit Apply.
6. Enjoy

If you see oddball entries inside the "Share Permissions" that will be the problem. Remove all the entries except the one labeled Everyone.

The above is for share permissions, which are different to NTFS permissions which may be your problem.  On the folders where you do not have permissions to even browse on your file system (locally), then you need to somehow get ownership of the files and then add the 'Authenticated Users' back as it sounds like that is missing.

What is currently showing (groups) under the 'Security' tab on the folders it is ignoring ?

What OS are you running?  Is it Windows?
Is this 4 drive enclosure directly attached via USB3 or is this a NAS type box?

Thanks for all the help everyone.  I must have spent 6 hours trying to get Emby to recognize this drive.  It finally does and not sure what I did to fix it.  The last thing I did was I noticed the recycle.bin file was corrupt.  Did a disk cleanup to remove it.  I then removed all permissions to the drive.  Then applied permissions to everyone. I must have done the last two steps 5 times to no avail but now Emby can read it.  I guess it was because of the corrupt file.
