ng4ever 40 Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 (edited) The movie is Murder On Orient Express 2017. Thanks. It is the very beginning of the movie. The file is 350 to 352 MB the whole movie is over 50 GB. I would like others, at least one person, try it with their Emby and maybe Plex too just for a test. The 1 minute clip of the movie. The purple graphical issues happen after the intro of the beginning of the movie credits. Edited July 13, 2021 by ng4ever

Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 Should be fine to provide the sample, but would still need the server and ffmpeg logs if created for this media.
arrbee99 1815 Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 (edited) Tried playing a few times in Firefox, where it transcodes and on Theater and using the Shield, where it direct plays, and didn't spot any purple artifacts. It did seem like there was a brief audio glitch at about 26 seconds though, during the bird bit. Edit - latest server beta on Windows. Edited July 13, 2021 by arrbee99
vdatanet 1617 Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 Can you post ffmpeg log? Maybe it’s remuxing H265 HDR content.

Sorry Look at Stats for Nerds per client or the Dashboard to see what it is doing. Check the log folder for ffmpeg log. But I am not seeing any purple graphical issues, but this is via a browser so it is transcoded and tone-mapped.
ng4ever 40 Posted July 13, 2021 Author Posted July 13, 2021 Should it be on synology nas server or my windows server ? The log files from.

ng4ever 40 Posted July 13, 2021 Author Posted July 13, 2021 (edited) @vdatanetand @Happy2Play here is the log file. Hopefully it helps. ffmpeg-remux-b81b26a4-9bd8-49f7-8b42-bccadee1d2cb_1.txt I stopped the sample file or 1 minute movie clip after about 5 or 10 seconds when it did the purple artifacts or graphical issues. Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 Most clients will not play well with remuxed HEVC do to HEVC and HLS do not play well together. So if does not DirectPlay there most likely will be issues. 1
ng4ever 40 Posted July 13, 2021 Author Posted July 13, 2021 Why does it work ok in Plex ? Just asking.
arrbee99 1815 Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 Seemed fine for me on FireTV 4K stick, though that was playing to a 1080p TV.

arrbee99 1815 Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 If its transcoding could it be the specific model processor on which the transcoding is happening ?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 But have no idea if that your issue or not as I have no idea what you are seeing as I do not see any issues in that clip in my playback methods.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 (edited) @ng4everif you changed audio track to the AC3 5.1 do you get the same results? Never mind you are not on a multi-channel system or even ac3. arrbee99 1815 Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 Maybe its a softworkz thing ? btw is it just this movie, is it all 4K stuff ? Is there anything special in media info about this movie ?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 (edited) I am guessing this is what you are talking about from my Roku Ultra. Directstream chocking on HEVC in HLS. Edited July 13, 2021 by Happy2Play 1

Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 So your only options is making the item DirectPlayable or a Full transcode. DirectStream is not really a option across most devices, HLS is find for h264 but h265 pretty much fails in HLS.
vdatanet 1617 Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 This is the problem: 17:35:38.862 Stream mapping: 17:35:38.862 Stream #0:0 -> #0:0 (copy) 17:35:38.862 Stream #0:1 -> #0:1 (truehd (native) -> aac (native)) Plex has fixed this using fMP4 or MKV segments. 1
arrbee99 1815 Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 Dumb question. How come I can play it on Firestick 4K ?
