Carlo 4560 Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 Thanks @Happy2Play for trying that for me. I get the same results as you and those tests IMHO should have brought out any problem. I'm at a loss what @morpheus2n2 is seeing or why it's happening if nothing else is touching the NFOs.

Its not only bloody annoying, it makes no sense as this all started on a different machine and when I moved to the new permanent server for emby it was a fresh start (apart from the media) and still the problem would happen, think is while thre is another user having the same problem @ursusltd its still so random and limited that I don't think the root problem will ever get found. If I go in to my actual collections screen its gone from 200 odd collections to 49 with out any input from me for almost 2 weeks now.

I have had items removed from collections, collections just disappear, and new collections created. Spent a day putting everything right - after a couple of days, still ok!

Do you by any chance have more than one Emby Server pointed to your media?
Guest Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 3 hours ago, cayars said: Do you by any chance have more than one Emby Server pointed to your media? Nope, Just this one and Plex (which keeps all its metadata isolated in its own folder on a dedicated SSD)
Carlo 4560 Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 Shut Plex down for a couple of days and see if your problem goes away. It appears that something outside of Emby is doing something that is causing this, so it's a matter of testing each thing that could do this.
Guest Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 Not sure why plex would as it doesn't use NFO's or has write permissions in media locations but i'll shut it to test things out
Guest Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 Ok, I have just finished redoing the collections for one library, I was surprised to find that when I re-made them the information was still there!! Here is the log file from this process, I cleared the logs, sorted my collection and ran 2 scans Currently there are still intact, I have Plex, Sonarr & Radarr all turned off so Emby is the sole thing running that has access to the media locations and I will check things tomorrow and report back. Also here's a couple of Screenshots of how the Library looks when all set how I want! embyserver.txt
Carlo 4560 Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 Almost looks like you don't care about collections unless they happen to be DC/Marvel related.

Pmsl currently yeah, until I can get them working fully this is the one I am concentrating on, all my other collections like Harry potter, Star Wars, Star Trek, Disney Classics etc have all gone as well but cos this single library is small enough to work with and fix it just makes sense
Guest Posted August 3, 2021 Posted August 3, 2021 Ok its been 2 days now and so far it has not done it, however when I turned "Import collection information When enabled, this will import collection information from your enabled metadata readers and downloaders. This may cause unwanted collections to be automatically created. Disabling will prevent future collections from being automatically created, but will not delete existing ones." Back on my Custom collections started to empty out again, I turned it back off fix the collections and have run 7 scans in last few hours and all is fine, I have turned Radarr back on first and will test adding a couple of films and having it trigger a scan to see what happens.
Luke 42077 Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 Do you have both nfo reading and saving enabled on the movies library?

Guest Posted August 5, 2021 Posted August 5, 2021 Since I turned of the Import collections info 4 days ago, its been perfect my custom collections have stayed intact and the NFO's all reflect this (apart from that blip when I turned it back on temporarily). Radarr and Sonarr have now both been re enabled and even after some heavy updating of the library's my collections have remained unaffected so im pretty confident that this is not sorted. I am not sure why but enabling the import collection information was either the problem or part of a problem but having it turned off has solved the issue lol
