Deleted videos don't go away immediately

I sent two logs from the ATV app last night at 7:50pm and 7:52pm CST, user home.

We opened Emby, opened a movie detail page from 'latest' list, Delete - it went away immediately.

We opened another move and played it.  After it was over we deleted it.  It took ~10s to go away from 'latest' list.  First log.

We opened another movie from 'latest' list and deleted.  It took ~10s to go away from 'latest' list.  Second log.

HI.  That just sounds like it is taking a bit of time for everything to update on the server and then refresh.

So you are saying this is expected behavior and could happen under normal circumstances.  After all this time and effort...

I'm saying it seems like reasonable behavior in that particular circumstance.  It sounds like everything updated but just took a bit of time, correct?

Correct.  I never said it never updated.  So what circumstance exactly should it take 10s to update?  In what circumstance should it immediately update?

When it takes that long for your server to respond.

First, that is still a theory at this point, correct?  Do the logs confirm it?  It does sound like a plausible thing, though I don't know why my server would take so long 90% of the time.  Is deleting some heavy-duty, resource-intensive thing (esp after watching a movie)?

Second, you alluded that this theory could be the problem but didn't give any way to validate.  Then, you immediately alluded "But it sounds like a screen refresh issue from what you have currently described".

So I've gone around in circles trying to get you information that never mattered?

Though I'd like to know exactly what the  issue is, I don't think we'll ever know.  I'll just ignore it.

I sit corrected.

Are you still able to reproduce this in the web app?

I think we're between a bit of a rock and a hard place here :).  At first,  you were reporting that the items didn't disappear from the interface sometimes after you deleted them.  My thought of a plausible reason for that was that the client refreshed the lists before the item was actually finished being removed from the back end.  Thus, it was still there but, if you manually refreshed it went away.

Now, you are saying that you are having instances where the items do remove but it is taking 5-10 seconds for that to happen.

The second situation is kind of a validation of my theory of the first and the client is now waiting until the delete is fully finished before executing the refresh.

Make sense?

I don't know - I don't do much deleting with the web app.  Besides you have the variability of it working sometimes and sometimes not, so who knows.

That's not entirely accurate.  Just depends on the timing.  If I wait, go to another screen, then back, it may have gone way by then.  So it may not be an issue of forcing a refresh, it could just be timing.  But I'm not going to play with this until I test every possible scenario.  And, I've learned a bit since the I've reported this issue.  I'm sure the issue today is the same as when I first reported.

Can you give it a try?

Using the web app, I played a movie then deleted it.  It went away instantaneously.

Another Shield data point, just for the record.  Same workflow and results, just a new day.

Opened the app, opened a movie from 'latest', play, stopped after a few min, Delete - latest still shows it
opened another movie, play, stopped after a few min, Delete - latest still shows both deleted movies
opened another movie, play until the end, Delete - latest still shows first two deleted movies for about 15s then they go away (last was removed ~immediately)

My server was busy for 2 hours?

Seems like the app should not report the object as 'deleted' until it is actually removed from the UI?  I guess that could get a bit philosophical...

Can you try sideloading our standard android app on the same device and let us know how that compares?
