New Plugin: Smart Playlists 2.0

@LongManasked me to look at this plugin.

I identified some problems with the settings but couldn't be arsed looking through the whole code to find out how it worked so i explained to an AI what i found.
After a lot of tries and some more troubleshooting for what it gave me i might have something working.
It did require a whole new settings page and javascript for it so the settings will be a lot different.
 
I havn't tested it much my self but what i have tested works.
If nothing else it should be a good starting point for someone else to finish.

Actually got it running with the original settings menu.
Basically a lot of stuff was no longer compatible and outdated.

Did the same as before, troubleshooted and told an AI my findings as i couldn't be bothered looking through most of the code.
Troubleshooted and corrected the code it gave me.
Rinse and repeat what felt like a thousand times.

Anyway... Here it is.

Tested this version and everything seems to be working now, thanks!

For anyone else with "Live" playlists: updates don't trigger until the library changes - to force an update, toggle them off then on, or edit (no changes required) then save.

Thanks, can you share what the building blocks are to getting ai to do work?

Do you link one of the ais to visual studio and share an sdk with the ai and ask it to make suggestions?

is the ai able to run tests on compiled code and rework itself? or do you have to tell it whats not working manually...fascinating

Sorry, didn't see your post before now.

I opened the project folder in Visual Studio Code.
I manually troubleshooted for a bit.
Gave up as i didn't want to go through all the code.
i went to the menu view -> chat (still in visual code)
Told the AI my findings and what happens when trying to start the program plus error codes from Emby.
Pressed the send button and off it went.
Rinse and repeat the AI and troubleshooting part until it worked.

It has some limitations. AIs tend to focus on one problem, and that problem only, so if multiple things are wrong then it might not be of much help.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I make playlists for movies consisting of certain actor(s). Every one I make doesn't work with movies. If i remove movies from the media item line and let it add everything, it only populates with TV episodes.

Should work now.
This is not my plugin so all i've done is run it through an AI therefor can't guarantee nothing else is broke.

Is it possible to turn off the notification of "UpdateAllSmartPlaylistsCommand"? I've looked to see if I could turn it off at a system or user level but so far I've been unsuccessful.

Think i can disable it with a simple "false" flag.
But it would permanently disable it and possibly all notifications, not sure.

Possible to have it be toggled on or off by the user? I personally don't need to see the notification as its more of a distraction. Especially since its displayed during movie playback.

I can recommend looking at "Alternative Smart Playlists" by @mickle026 instead.
He's done an awesome job at a smart list plugin.

Those days, they said smart playlists could cover that, but it wasnt released.

Lol after 2 years i now see, it exists?

How do i install this?

I suggest you find another smartplaylist plugin as this one doesn't seem to be maintained.

@mickle026is making a new one and has done some awesome work.

I have heard (can not confirm) that the Emby Developers are also working on  a solution as we speak.

They've been working on one for years that I thought was meant to come out in 4.9 but didn't.

I would hope with all the fuss about playlists recently they'd be prioritising this task.

Found the problem, i compiled it as a debug version and not release version so all the debug messages are shown.
Should be working now without the messages.

To anyone reading this, i'm am not the developer or maintainer of this plugin.
I just ran it through an AI to fix it, nothing more.

Umm, isn't it the same? The SmartPlaylists plugin can also create smart collections.

 I think it does do some form of smart collections  BUT I don't think it has ever been able to do smart collections of music albums (if that is what you are looking for?).

I did try to get this working for music albums quite a while back and asked about it, but never received any response at the time. The smart playlists are great for lists of songs, but it doesn't seem to work for album collection lists, Therefore I'm waiting to see what Emby comes up with for their own core integration.

If smart collections can be done for music albums now, perhaps someone else knows how???
