Toolbar showing multiple Emby Icons

So my previous Emby server crashed and had to rebuild.  Installed the latest version and restored from backup.  I am running Emby as a service but I'm seeing multiple icons in the toolbar.  When I exit out of them the service stops.  When I restart the service, the icons return.  How to I stop this behavior?

Hi, if you're seeing items in the tray it would appear you're starting multiple versions of Emby.

Make sure Settings->Run server at startup is not enabled.

Make sure you don't have Emby in any startup groups.

Hi, please make sure you followed these instructions to setup your windows service:

Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

I did follow the instructions, in fact I was forced to after a Windows patch that deleted the service.  Still have the icon in the toolbar.  I can remove it by exiting and then starting the service back up when exiting stops it.  Then it doesn't come back.  But it will come back when I log back into the computer.  Is there another setting that I've missed in the restore process?

It sounds like you've got two instances starting, both the service and the app version, so one needs to be disabled

How would I fix this then?

Check and disable Settings->Run server at startup

This way on reboots Emby won't be loaded as normal.  This way your service will be the only thing to start Emby Server.

Let us know how that works for you.

It's already set for that...

So no green check box correct?

You could check the startup folder to make sure Emby isn't there but other than that Emby shouldn't be loading other than the service unless of course you manually have tried to start it from the menu system.

It might have been the startup... I had 2 entries in there Emby Server and Emby Server Dashboard.  Removed both of them

Yes there's a good chance that will resolve it.

Let us know how you make out and if this issue is gone now after making that change.

Thanks

So that solution did not work.  It holds for a little bit but then the toolbar icon keeps coming back, and in multiples.  I have to exit each one of them and then restart the service.  I do not know what is causing this.

Do you use Emby DVR? You might have windows task scheduler entries to launch the server for recordings. You could check that and try clearing them out.

Yes, i do use the DVR.  I see the tasks in the scheduler.  If I remove them will the programs no longer record?

They will record if emby server is already running at the time. It will just be up to you to manage that.

OK... which it should be since I'm running it as a service and as long as the computer is on the service is running.  Thanks for the update.  Will remove those scheduled tasks and see if that fixes it.

Sincerest apologies for not updating sooner.  Yes, removing the scheduled tasks for the DVR worked and everything has been working fine.

Thank you.
