I have added my media via a samba share if that helps, the files are visable and show up with the correct file path, just wont play.

I see you've added SMB Paths into emby server. What I would suggest instead is mounting the smb share to a local share using the tools in your host OS. Then add that local share path into Emby Server instead. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

I managed to get the SMB paths working by adding the user Emby to the server with the SMB shares but the playback was stop/start. So I added the local share as you suggested and will test this evening after the library scan is complete

Great, let us know how you get on. Thanks.

So I have half the library using locally mounted SMB shares and the other half straight SMB shares, both exibit start/stop playback. It's all hardwired so network speed shouldn't be an issue, reducing the quality a lot fixes it but thats not a solution. Any suggestions to help with network shares?

3 or 4 pauses in each 20 seconds

Looks like a bad encode, errors everywhere when trying to transcode it.  Run it through mkvtoolnix or something and try it again.

I see you've still added SMB Paths into emby server. What I would suggest instead is mounting the smb share to a local share using the tools in your host OS. Then add that local share path into Emby Server instead. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.

I been through nearly every movie and both the smb share and the local mount works fine it appears to be files encoded x265/mp4, x265/mkv play fine as does x264/mp4. Not sure what was going on. The file I tried above was a 35gb (AVC.DTS-HD.MA.TrueHD.5.1) I ran it through handbrake with and now plays fine (file size down to 8gb)

I converted the other x265/mp4 files I wanted and deleted the rest. Problem solved.
