How to stop a user from using Emby

I had a friend stop by yesterday, and was interested in a media server.  I had him install the Emby app on his Iphone, and connect his phone to MY WiFi.  Everything went well for our testing of live TV, recordings, etc.  During our testing, I had him disconnect from my WiFi and use his cellular connection, all well.

Problem, how was he able to connect to my server using HIS Version cellular connection. I have T-mobile ( I know that does not matter).  I wanted to have him check to see if Emby still works when he got home.  This morning he text me and said Emby was still working on his phone.

How can I terminate his connection to my server, and how did it happen???  I expected it to connect using my local connection, but not a WAN connection.

Ah, you gave him your own login, and now want him not to be able to use it?

I believe you can block specific devices (though I don't know the details).  Or you could change your password - which would be a mild pain as you'd have to log your devices in again, but that's not a big deal, is it?

That is the issue, he just installed the app and started using it, I don't recall any password.......

I would like to give him his own user account, so I can control his usage......  We are just testing it, to see if it serves his purpose.  He is purchasing an RV and wants to add a TV so his grandkids can watch the old TV shows (that I have on my server), while they are traveling or camping .........

HOW did I give him my login???  He just installed the app, connected to my WiFi and he was off to the races...... The issue is how he got access using the WAN.

I do not have a password for my server.  Even if I had a password and gave it to him, I would still be in the same situation.

You must have enabled remote access, because you tested mobile access with him before he left.

Alternatively, you have things set up in such a way that remote access is seen as local - a remote connection should require a password, even if you've disabled that for local connections.  Do you have a reverse proxy?

I don't even know what a reverse proxy is.

Then you probably don't have one!

On the Network page of the dashboard, what is shown in the first field: "LAN Networks"?  We need to find out why a login without password is possible remotely.

You can turn on the "hide this user" option for remote users (user profile tab) and set a password (password tab).
If you already had a password, change it.

Then create a new user account for him to use.

Mission accomplished.  I added a password to my account, so not one can access.

I added a new user and he has successfully logged in under his account.......

Everything is good now...

Thanks as usual.

We are almost there, Happy2Play has been very helpfull........  Friend still has not been able to login with his new user setting.

Did you enable "Allow remote connections to this Emby Server." in user setting?
