lexisdude 145 Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 (edited) Hello all I have been recently having problems with song listings duplicating the songs in the list for new additions - but there are no duplicates in the folders. This has only been happening with new additions, the older albums that are in my library are fine. It is showing this in both the app , and the web interface so it's not limited to a particular client. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this? Thanks Brian EDIT: Upon further investigation, I have noticed something has changed. I have 2 different libraries: One called "Requested Music", the other called "Music" For the ones showing duplicate entries (as pictured) - they are in my "Requested Music" , not my "Music" .. However they are showing up also in my Music listings.. I do not want this... And as folder structures are concerned, this should not be happening. Even though they are both considered "Music" , neither one share the same folders/directories/libraries (I thought that was the main purpose of being able to add more than one main directory in the libraries???) Having Emby gang up all music under "Music" when being able to add multiple root directories to a library is already available, isn't that a bit overkill? EDIT / EDIT: Ok, so now I am really confused. Why were files that I had placed in my "Requested Music" folders/library - which in some cases shares the same "Artist" in my "Music" folders/library copied to the root directory of that artist, even though they are not sharing libraries? What is really going on here? Edited July 3, 2021 by lexisdude Additional information
Carlo 4561 Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Hi, can you show us the paths you have setup for both of these music libs? Library menu from the web admin should do it.
koopa8840 24 Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Emby is linking the two music libraries, even though they are setup as separate libraries and neither is contained within the other's folder structure. Example: Music 1: D:\Music 1 and Music 2: D:\Music 2, yet if you go into the library of Music 1 you will see entries from Music 2 and vice verse, but only if there is matching metadata. I can reproduce this, if needed, and submit screenshots.
Carlo 4561 Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 This is a known issue @Luke said he was looking into.
lexisdude 145 Posted July 12, 2021 Author Posted July 12, 2021 (edited) Just wanted to give an update to my OP: There are two things that are going on in my database. One is Emby (duplicating entries if there are multiple copies of an album in 2 libraries), the other is Lidarr (which was actually causing the bad behavior in my music directories). If someone has a similar issue with their music ; it might be Lidarr because they changed post processing instructions. What it was doing, was copying the songs to the main music/artist library and then adding them into its index, leaving a copy of the songs in my 'requested music' library as well (from Emby's perspective, it saw 2 copies of the same album and duplicated the songs on the album list ( which still needs fixing)) But at least I have it under control now. Happy2Play 9783 Posted July 12, 2021 Posted July 12, 2021 No matter where music is located or how many different libraries you have Emby will merge same album/album artist items. So say having a flac and mp3 library with the same media will get merged. Only way around not having them merge is having different mbzalbumnids or modifying the Album name
Luke 42085 Posted July 22, 2021 Posted July 22, 2021 Hi @lexisdude, yes this is something we need to look at and provide a solution for. Workaround in the meantime is giving them different album names in their embedded metadata.
austinpwnz 0 Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 Hi @Luke, I'm experiencing the same issue in this thread of duplicate files due to having mp3+flac copies of many albums. I'd love to be able to filter by file format or similar, but haven't seen anything like that in Emby, and so many of my albums are effectively useless due to having 2-3 copies of each song. Has any solution or progress been made since your last comment here?
