Disabling Microsoft Defender

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Figures, when I decide to stress test my Emby server on windoze, good 'ole Defender turns on and starts scanning my drives.  Damn you Bill Gates!!!!!!!!

Reading up now, can disable it from starting, until next reboot that is...

I don't advise this for others unless you know what you're doing.

Since my Emby server is a "server" and used for nothing else I've turned the service off.
For me anything that touches that machine has already started on a different machine that is checking files.

Okay, Instead of disabling, I followed this guide, forcing it to run once a day, starting at 3:30am, and running no longer than 2 hours max.

I guess I should manually start a full scan, excluding the media libraries, to see how long it takes.  Making progress though!

That is a better solution for most people to be honest. Scheduling it to run when you aren't using the system is a good thing and still gives you protection.
Once you know how long it runs, you can adjust it's start time if needed.

Nope, doesn't work.

It's 3:30pm here, and Defender just ran, even though I scheduled it to run at 3:30 AM.

God I hate Microsoft.
