ertagon2 44 Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, I've been getting a lot of Playback Errors. At first I thought it was an rclone issue since the error I in emby and rclone logs was EOF but it wasn't very consistent. There were occasions where the pop up would display without any error in the logs (rclone and emby). Sometimes, but not always, if I click "Got It" and wait a while the stream kicks in and plays normally. Also forcing a new instance (?) of the stream to play usually fixes the problem, for example switching graphical subtitles (I have them to be burned in) or opening a new window with emby and playing it there (sometimes multiple times). Restart of the emby server also helps sometimes but it's too inconsistent to say for sure. The issue started appearing in release 4.6.* but definitely not before that. Also I never had this problem before and I didn't change anything in my rclone mount settings. Could it be possible that there were some changes in how emby fetches files from the directories or something like that? The issue is not with any specific file from what I observed but it does mostly appear in anime content with graphical (ass) subtitles. Though I believe it also happened for me in normal movie as well. I would have to test it more (it's not consistent). Could be tied to this? Carlo 4561 Posted July 3, 2021 Posted July 3, 2021 Hi, What you could try and do is move a couple files down to local storage and see if the problem goes away or if you still have a problem with local files. Then we would want to look at a specific example or two of playback issues from local storage.

But here are some things I noticed: - The issue only affects content with graphical subtitles - Without subtitles it always works almost straight away Perhaps you guys changed how these subs are fetched and that's what is causing my issue? I do understand that his would be considered an edge case so I am not very hopeful for a fix. I am also not entirely sure that the issue isn't with rclone config (tho it worked until the 4.6 patch).
Luke 42086 Posted July 29, 2021 Posted July 29, 2021 @ertagon2 we didn't fetch these graphical subtitles. They are embedded within your videos. The reason for your problem is your server is unable to transcode it quickly enough to be playable. To resolve this, you could try one of the following: Turn off the subtitles Use external text subtitles instead, such as .srt. Our subtitle download features can help you acquire these Use an Emby app that can direct play this format of subtitles without transcoding, such as our Android or iOS apps, of Emby Theater for windows desktop Get a more powerful server machine Please let us know if this resolves your issue. Thanks.
