zachattack83 3 Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Im not sure why emby was crashing, but when I searched the error it was giving me, the forums said to fresh install. So, in doing that, I lost all my set up. Now all of my cover art is not displaying on my tv shows and movies. It just shows the title and a random color background. I think I've experienced this before, but can't recall how I fixed it. I've tried to refresh all the meta data for the library, but its not updating them. Whats odd though, is that a few tv shows, and a few movies DO actually have a cover. I'm guessing this might be permissions related? I recently went through another post regarding OMV, and permissions. Changing the UID and GID for my emby user to match fixed it. When I reinstalled emby, it did change the emby uid, but I changed it back to match the OMV server.... But the art still isn't updating... so not sure what I need to change here.
Q-Droid 989 Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 When you changed the emby UID/GID did you also fix the ownership of the Emby data in /var/lib/emby? Check for mismatch and to fix stop the server, recursively chown to correct user:group and start server. 1
zachattack83 3 Posted July 1, 2021 Author Posted July 1, 2021 I did not. I haven't had it crash yet. Is there a way to check the uid of the owner of the /var/lib/emby?
Q-Droid 989 Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 It should be emby:emby and if it's something else then do as I posted above. Stop server, chown, start server. ls -la /var/lib/emby
zachattack83 3 Posted July 2, 2021 Author Posted July 2, 2021 ya, it was still emby emby when I did the ls -l, but, I didn't know if that was using the 998 uid that it reset to, or using the 8001 one that I changed it back to.. the GID never changed on the emby reinstall.
Q-Droid 989 Posted July 2, 2021 Posted July 2, 2021 If it shows emby:emby then the ownership for the files/directories match the UID/GID you have set. The file and dir ownership attributes are stored as UID/GID and your system translates them to names for you. Which is why the NFS shares can show different owners for the same files on other hosts. But if the emby server ran with the other UID then you could have some files deep in the structure with the wrong UID. So probably better to change it, stop the server first. chown -R emby:emby /var/lib/emby
