Bigmack3000 107 Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 Before the update, tv shows would scrape metadata from tvdb and appear in the appropriate season. After the update they have all been removed, and can only be found in the Specials folder now. Is there a way to get this back to how it was? All of the placement fields for those special episodes are now empty as well. What caused this?
Happy2Play 9783 Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 There were additional database columns added but it should not have affected existing metadata. Do you save metadata with media? If so does the nfo contain the required metadata Airs during and Airs before episode? Have you tried to Refresh metadata on the Specials?
Bigmack3000 107 Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 Would I do a complete Library refresh? The info is still in the nfo file: But not in Emby: Also, didn't there use to be some option in Library settings to have "Specials sorted within their seasons"? That option is no longer listed for me, even if I select advanced settings. Am I wrongly remembering where that is located?
pwhodges 2012 Posted June 30, 2021 Posted June 30, 2021 (edited) That setting is in the global Library settings on the Advanced tab. It is not per-library. Paul Edited June 30, 2021 by pwhodges

Maybe am wrong but, That nfo has: airsafter season displayseason but where is displayepisode tag, without that how does emby knows where to put the episode in season 2?
Bigmack3000 107 Posted June 30, 2021 Author Posted June 30, 2021 Library is currently refreshing, I'll update when it's done. Just now, rodainas said: Maybe am wrong but, That nfo has: airsafter season displayseason but where is displayepisode tag, without that how does emby knows where to put the episode in season 2? If it only has 'after" or "before" selected, then it plays after the final episode or before the first.

Ok, a full TV library refresh seems to have fixed the problem. Was I supposed to have done a refresh after updating? With this new update, Specials are now included in the next up viewing order, correct? There's still some series who are not sorting by DVD correctly, but that's probably not going to be fixed until the tvdb plugin is updated, right?

Depends as Emby does currently pull DVD order for the majority of media. So specific examples would be needed.
Bigmack3000 107 Posted July 1, 2021 Author Posted July 1, 2021 I've made a few topics on them in the past, like this one: emby is still ignoring the dvd order for these shows. I think the conclusion in the past was that it's due to the new version of tvdb, and an update to the plugin for emby should fix it.
Happy2Play 9783 Posted July 1, 2021 Posted July 1, 2021 Yes if v3 api is not returning the selected order then there isn't really anything we can do about it. I am sure things will change when we are forced to go to the v4 user subscription api. But this will mean users will have to subscribe to TVDB to get a pin to get data via a new TVDB plug. As of right now they have announce the closing of legacy apis on 1 October 2021. So the question of whether this will make or break TVDB is to be seen. As all media managers will have to implement this or drop TVDB all together (unless something changes).

Hi @Bigmack3000, emby is not ignoring what you set, the problem is in the tvdb api data.

Are there any plans to update the plugin before October? And/or if they delay closing legacy apis again, will the update for the plugin be delayed as well?

We will continue to adjust and react to that in the best way possible. 1
