I can't understand what is going on the Password page of the user account page in admin.  It seems to me it has some bugs crawling around.

 

Sometimes "Current password" is populated (with dots) and looks disabled, yet I can still edit the field.  Sometimes, it is empty, like in the pic.

What is the purpose of the "Current password" field?  Just to show me the # of characters in my pwd (when it shows, that is)?

 

Let me add that in this interface, it could be useful to highlight the tab/page the user is on (like diff button color or border or ...).

You need to know the current password in order to change it just like on many sites.

You as an admin can also remove the current password in order to reset to anything you like using the remove password button.

Oh, so maybe the field shows populated sometimes is because in the browser I'm using the credentials are stored?  The field background color throws me off.

You can not Remove/blank a admin password, only a user password. 

A admin does not need to know a user password to change there password.  So you can remove or apply a new one.

As for the fake dots I believe it was a browser/device thing and has not representation of how long the password is.  But Current Password represent a password is set.

@Happy2Play Thanks for the extra info.  Just curious, though, how does that relate to the button highlight question?

Ya know, there is still something weird about this interface.  I, as admin, go into a non-admin profile that has a password set, but "Current password" is not populated, no indication there is a password set.  There is some inconsistency; maybe it is a case of persisting all UI even though sometimes it doesn't actually apply (have usefulness) in the context.

Guess I have no idea what you mean by button highlight as it shows a raised blue button.

Totally normal.  You would not have a option if one was not assigned.  As for fake dots I find them rather useless but that may just be me.  But you need to show context of inconsistencies.

Man, you got me all confused.  If you don't show anything (fake dots or not), why have the field, especially when it is not needed for that context.  I think you got lost in the posts.

Follow the thread, I was asking why cayar's has highlight and I don't.  Now that I look again, the wrong button on cayar's is highlighted.  So I don't know what raised blue button you are talking about.

Okay I get what you are talking about with highlight, ie the tab header option.  Well his display mode is on TV and the button highlight will bounce back to first option even though displaying a different active menu. @Lukethis is sort of a glitch in tv mode.

That is by design?  If it is I don't get it.  But, the web UI doesn't highlight at all.  This makes no sense.  Bug or 'area for improvement'?

Yes it does in Display Mode: TV as I showed you the web UI in TV Mode to show the highlighted tab.  The other modes do not highlight by design.  But yes Luke needs to look at the behavior as I would not say it is normal for TV Mode.

Thanks. But as for the contents of the password fields, yes those are probably being filled by your browser.
