4.6.3 Error direct play

Hello, 

Since 4.6.3 i have direct play problem. The media no longer launch into direct play. If I force, it lags a lot

Hi, are you streaming to a remote client in this instance?

Do you have the ffmpeg log to go with this?

What client are you trying to play this back on?

The ffmpeg log shows about 27 seconds of playback.  Does that sound correct?

i have 3 questions

Can i downgrad to 4.6.2?
When we run a strm file, does the emby server just send the link to the device and the device reads live? or does the server upload the whole file to him?

Can i download old version server? where?

Hi.  Remove the Smart Playlists plug-in and see if it improves.

Downgrade from 4.6.3 to 4.6.2?  You think there is a problem in the point release?

Essentially the server will always pull down the linked file as it's being streamed.  Emby Server will then handle any remuxing or transcoding needed for the clients as usual.

I remove discord notif et smart playlist last night. Always the same problème.

yes i want to know if its easy to downgrad to 4.6.2 for testing.

Officially, no there is no way to downgrade with using a full backup.

But with this just being a point release and I don't think any database changes it's probably safe to do.
Go to system menu and turn off "Enable automatic server updates"
Shutdown Emby.
If you can make a copy of your data folder which holds the database files (just in case).
Delete your system folder and rename the system.old to system
restart Emby

That should put you back on the previous version you had installed which hopefully is 4.6.2

Thanks i do and it same problem. 
I think the problem comes from my host. The upload is not good. but i thought i didn't need to upload since it's strm.
I thought the link was processed by my shield directly if I don't transcode

The strm file is just a "pointer" for the server to find the media file.

Yes but if  the file is in the cloud. Why my server must upload? He send juste the link no?

Hi.  Since we cannot verify the remote url, we do not use that directly from the apps.  The server will download it and then send it to the app.  Going direct to an unknown url could get us kicked out of some app stores.

Not to mention, the file may be in a format (container or codecs) that isn't compatible with the client app or might be bigger than the client is set to stream.

Does this apply to music formats through a STRM?

strm is just a placeholder file for the server.  But the server will always be in the middle of handling strm files.
