Hello

I would like to ask for a feature in emby app because of a problem where devices with relativley low proccessing power (in my example samsung s9) have videos played very dark (example in pictures).

i figured out that if you play videos that are too much for your device to handle like 4k hdr you get dimmed picture. If you have mx player you have an option to use hw, hw+ or sw which are hardware accelerated or software accelerated. There is a similar option in vlc app settings: hardware acceleration.

If you use hardware acceleration and your device cant handle the video you will get dimmed picture.

If you use software acceleration (or in vlc disable hardware acc.) You will get original picture but if your device cant handle it the video will stutter.

PS: (I had to make photos of images because if i screenshot it undimms the videos for some reason)

If the client can't direct play in Emby you can have the server transcode the video on the fly to a format much friendly to the device which should play clearly.

In the case of 4K HDR videos 4.6+ versions of the server can also tone map the colors as well assuming you have a compatible GPU or adequate CPU power on the server.
