we87 0 Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 I am not 100% sure how to phrase this, so please bare with me. Emby server running on Windows 10. I have a main folder called "tv shows" which has all of the various different shows (star trek, friends, etc) which shows up on the main screen of emby when it's launched. This all works fine. I would ALSO like the ability to have just the "Friends" tv show as a main button on the top menu, so I'd have a "Movies" then "TV Shows" then "Friends" button. When I try to set this up, the friends menu option is always empty and never populates. I want this to easily navigate to friends and just hit the play button to shuffle and have my favorite show on. Hope that makes sense. Is this possible?
arrbee99 1817 Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 Interesting question. I have no idea, which obviously doesn't help. But might it help a bit to put Friends under Favorites ? Maybe it wouldn't, but thought it wouldn't do any harm to mention it.
Happy2Play 9783 Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 Sorry, currently there is no way to have a entry point like this directly on the Home Screen.

In order for an item to "belong" to multiple libraries, its folder must be of same level as the other "member" items, i.e. one library can contain \tv shows\star trek and \tv shows\friends whilst the other can contain \tv shows\friends only.; since your 'Friends' folder is a subfolder of your parent TV shows folder, it will not show in any other library where it is placed as separate entity. To have it shown as you would like to, you would have to remove your "tv shows" folder from your "TV Shows" library and add each series folder separately. Edit: And then make a separate library with 'Friends' folder alone. Edit 2 (upon testing): Another (and easier) way to do it would be to pull out 'Friends' folder out of 'tv shows' folder, add it to "tv shows 2" (or however you'd like to call it) folder and add that folder to your 'TV shows' library setup in addition to 'tv shows' folder. rbjtech 5284 Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 (edited) I don't have any issues setting this up - maybe I'm missing something ? I setup a new Library called '24' (the first tv series on my system ..) and created it as 'Mixed' - I turned off all metadata providers. Library setup is from a share - \\MEDIA\TV Series 2\24 (2001)\ My main TV Series library has the same share (amongst many) - except one subdirectory down - ie \\MEDIA\TV Series 2\ (yes I can edit the 24 graphic to whatever I wanted to - this is just a test..) So if I want to quickly get to '24' - I just click it and then am presented with all of the Seasons for 24 ... Is this what you needed ? edit - From a USER perspective - then a quick way to get to Friends is to simply 'Favourite' the top level item - and then select 'favourites' from the top menu to get to all those items - you can have TV shows, Films, Channels etc - they are all listed here. In the example below - It now shows Friends at the top level. Edited June 25, 2021 by rbjtech 1
GrimReaper 4762 Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 Most likely because you store metadata and artwork locally, don't know whether it would work with scrapers enabled, maybe?

That's why I purposely turned off the scrapers for the new sub-library, as it's pointless having it scraped twice, possibly conflicting.
GrimReaper 4762 Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 Good deal then, great it is supported like that, I remember the case of abt. 6ish months ago when I couldn't make nested folder library to work, will need some time to find that.
rbjtech 5284 Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 Just read your two links above - and yes, it appears this is not supposed to work .. I must confess I did not do a library scan - maybe that's where it goes wrong. Let me test on my test system as I'm not brave enough to try this on my live system where I did the above examples .. haha.
rbjtech 5284 Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 ok - so a quick test and it survives a full scan and metadata refresh. The reason it works is because it's a 'Mixed' library. If I do the same with a 'TV shows' library - it remains empty. I can actually add multiple shares to the Mixed library - and they all appear in the root - so I'm wondering how sub folders will show up in Mixed ...
GrimReaper 4762 Posted June 25, 2021 Posted June 25, 2021 Nice, so OP has two ways to achieve desired result. 1
