CHA0SENG7NE 28 Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Updated to the latest version of server. All working great apart from DOLBY ATMOS audio streams arent displaying correctly on amplifier. Checked Stats for Nerds. The video is direct play. The audio has software decode. Im using an Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 connected into Denon AVR-X2400H. Any other codec displays correct like DTS:X, Dolby etc I have attached log files. Anything else let me know. This was working fine beforehand. Still has sound and isnt a deal breaker but it isnt right. Many thanks hardware_detection-63759991798.txt embyserver.txt
Carlo 4561 Posted June 22, 2021 Posted June 22, 2021 Hi, do you get dolby atmos showing when using other apps on your Denon? We're going to need to see an in app log to see why the client is converting the audio. Please follow the directions in this post for how to send this app log. 1
ebr 16185 Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 My guess is this is a TrueHD track and the device is not reporting support for it but the log requested above will tell us.
rbjtech 5284 Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 (edited) This combo works fine as I have the same - Audio and Video should all Direct Play - ensure you turn on the Shield first and let CEC turn on the AVR and let the AVR use CEC to turn on the TV. If the AVR is turned on first - the Shield doesn't appear to be notified of the capabilities and thus HD Audio channels use 'Multi-In' on the AVR which is not HD Audio. Also ensure your Shield is set to passthrough the HD Audio (to the AVR). Edited June 23, 2021 by rbjtech
CHA0SENG7NE 28 Posted June 23, 2021 Author Posted June 23, 2021 I will get some app logs for you shortly. The TV, AMP and Shield combo have been working perfectly for over a year. Never had any issue getting the Dolby Atmos Track to work. I have checked the setting in the shield. All is good. I switch on the Shield which in turn switches on the Amp then TV. Its setup correctly and hasn't changed. Ill do some more testing..... Thanks
rbjtech 5284 Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 (edited) Are you using 'File' or 'HTTP' delivery ? What does SFN show ? Edited June 23, 2021 by rbjtech

rbjtech 5284 Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 ah ok - HTTP and a s/w decode on Audio - not good. My stream type is 'File' - in other words, real direct playback - no emby http streaming is involved. https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44002058112-shield-tv-direct-file-access It would be interesting if this access method solves your issue ... if it does, then maybe the new version has broken something.
rbjtech 5284 Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Gimme a couple of hours and I'll test this - I have a DV remux of 1917 myself using the same kit (but using File method) and I'm almost 100% sure True-HD Atmos was perfectly fine (and shown on the Denon AVR).
CHA0SENG7NE 28 Posted June 23, 2021 Author Posted June 23, 2021 Great, i'm working right now but ill have a go tonight. Everything else displays correctly on the Denon. Just Atmos.

Either the device is not reporting support for TrueHD or TrueHD has been disabled in the settings. An app log will tell us.
rbjtech 5284 Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 (edited) I don't see any issues - I can't test HTTP but according to @ebr this will not make any difference I'm using server 4.6.0.3 and Shield Client version 2.0.26g - which is the same as what's being reported in your log above. Interestingly, your rip is 75Mb/sec whilst mine is 87Mb/sec - could be as mine has DV (and is playing as DV) but I also see your SFN doesn't mention the HDR Support line ? Is your TV SDR ? rbjtech 5284 Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 lol - isn't that always the way ! Does it say about 'HDR Support' in the SFN since the restart ? as your previous screen shot it was missing - hence the question.
CHA0SENG7NE 28 Posted June 23, 2021 Author Posted June 23, 2021 Nope it doesn't have it but the TV definitely switches to HDR and the picture is correct. I wonder why it doesn't display that? But! The audio is perfect again so thanks to everyone for reaching out. 1
ebr 16185 Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 It was probably just an HDMI handshake issue. For instance, if something happened that caused the Shield to get booted up while the AVR was turned off (or not ready) then it could have gotten bad audio support info from the chain.
CHA0SENG7NE 28 Posted June 23, 2021 Author Posted June 23, 2021 Good to know something I took for granted.
