MajesticMaerlyn 17 Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 Hi, As per the title - is there any way (that I may be missing), besides using library access permissions, to prevent access to certain video resolutions per user? For example, prevent user X from accessing 4K or higher videos - thus preventing them from trying to stream a 4K file outside my home network? My current workaround is to have a seperate library (defined by folder with all my 4K versions of videos) created and restrict access that way, but I hoped for a more elegant solution - we can currently restrict access based on ratings or transcoding atm. Cheers and stay safe all
rbjtech 5284 Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 You are likely using the most elegant solution to this (a 4K library). Other options include 'Tagging' files (and then set the users to exclude items with those tags) or remove 'Transcode' rights but that is not very elegant and results in an error for the user.
neik 873 Posted June 18, 2021 Posted June 18, 2021 IIRC, the auto tagging plugin Chef developed can tag items by resolution. You might wanna have a look at it.
MajesticMaerlyn 17 Posted June 18, 2021 Author Posted June 18, 2021 (edited) Cheers all. I looked at tagging but when you have 400+ it was a little tiresome... will have a look at Chef's plugin. Besides that, is there an easy way to recreate the merge between different versions in different locations? I did a dumb and split a heap apart. I vaguely remember a plugin here that did it but for the life of me can't recall its name Cheers all Edited June 18, 2021 by MajesticMaerlyn Typo

MajesticMaerlyn 17 Posted June 18, 2021 Author Posted June 18, 2021 Cheers @GrimReaper76 that's the one I was looking for. And now to try tags Thanks all and have a great day / night ahead
Solution Carlo 4561 Posted June 18, 2021 Solution Posted June 18, 2021 Typically either a separate library or using Folder Based Access Control is the ideal way using only tools built into Emby. Automatic version grouping takes this to a new level. https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001160108-folder-based-access-control
MajesticMaerlyn 17 Posted June 19, 2021 Author Posted June 19, 2021 OMG I am so blind - I completely brain-farted over that @cayars. That will work for me
MajesticMaerlyn 17 Posted June 19, 2021 Author Posted June 19, 2021 Sadly that plugin no longer seems to work, so yay, manual grouping time (400 titles is time consuming haha)
Carlo 4561 Posted June 19, 2021 Posted June 19, 2021 I'm not using it but just checking that thread I don't see any mention of it not working with the current version???
chef 3810 Posted June 19, 2021 Posted June 19, 2021 The tagging plugin needs updating. I will fix it.

Did you download download the one label 4.6.0.22 as it will not auto update? Edited June 19, 2021 by Happy2Play 1
MajesticMaerlyn 17 Posted June 20, 2021 Author Posted June 20, 2021 Sorry all was offline for these replies. I thought I had tested the latest, but will have a go again today make sure I had the right one. Cheers all
MajesticMaerlyn 17 Posted June 21, 2021 Author Posted June 21, 2021 Yeah, I had installed it in the wrong location. I put it under programdata\plugins instead of system\plugins That allowed me to see it, and then I ignored the spinning circle and just hit the update and it worked
