Swynol 375 Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 This video shows Media Browser 3 web client on the left screen streaming to my Xbox One on the right hand screen. The file demonstrated in this video is a 1080p blu ray rip with 6 channel DTS MA, file size was around 25-30GB. The streaming was over a 1Gbps wired network. 5
swhitmore 781 Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Awesome! Is that the new video player that Microsoft are bringing out in the next version?
Swynol 375 Posted August 25, 2014 Author Posted August 25, 2014 I'm not really sure, there was an update yesterday but i dont think the media player has been released yet. In this video i think its just transcoding the video to the old xbox video player.
swhitmore 781 Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Are you using the developer preview on the Xbox? That would be the only way to get it. I'm interested to see if it makes an improvement. They are adding the ability to browse a DLNA server, which I'm looking forward to.
Swynol 375 Posted August 25, 2014 Author Posted August 25, 2014 no not using the Dev Preview. so must be the old one. still works perfectly well but it would be nicer if it didnt have to transcode and played all file types locally. although i dont really use my xbox for media browser as i have loads of other devices i use. the video was just to demonstrate that it does work and how easy it is to get it to work.
Daymarr 0 Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Hi, Saw your post on reddit, Are you using this media player?
Swynol 375 Posted August 25, 2014 Author Posted August 25, 2014 (edited) no i'm using the old xbox video player. the one that came with it on release. i havent downloaded the new one yet or the preview one. to get Media Browser to work i didnt have to do anything on the xbox, Media Browser Server see's the Xbox as a DLNA device when its on, and then i can choose my media from any of the iOS apps android app or web client to stream it to the xbox Edited August 25, 2014 by Crazypete00
Daymarr 0 Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Nvm i see what you did, Thanks for the information! This is very useful.
fantaxp7 191 Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 I wonder if the new player will allow for DTS-HD, no transcoding, etc...
Swynol 375 Posted August 25, 2014 Author Posted August 25, 2014 the blu ray player supports DTS-HD well it bitstreams it to my AVR to decode it. so i cant see why they wouldnt support it
