Lukeyson 0 Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 Hi My Emby has just recently started failing on me. I'm not a power user so I'm struggling a bit to figure out what is going on, or whether I've done anything in particular to cause a problem. Navigating around on a browser client I try to access a library and the client seems to just freeze. I try a brand new browser window and it fails to connect to the server saying it is not responding. On the Emby Server (Windows Server 2016) the task bar tray Emby icon still shows but Emby Server itself is definitely not responsive. I launch Emby Server again by navigating through the windows menu and clicking on Emby Server, and I can now access it from a browser client once again. There are 2 x task bar tray icons now. But if I navigate around again, it once against seems to crash or kill the emby service. I have attached my log. Towards the end of every log that experiences a crash I get the line "Debug App: ConvertImageToLocal item 146218 - image url: emby://boxsetcollage" repeated dozens and dozens of times. I'm not sure if that's referring to movie Collections, or it's doing something in the Music library. Other than ongoing Emby version upgrades, I don't recall having made any config changes to emby for quite a long time - other than adding or removing content in my libraries. I had a desire to add an AudioBooks library but have not been able to get past this issue with crashing. Thankyou for this product by the way. I have been using it for quite a long time and it has been lots of fun seeing it evolve. I still even use the Windows Media Centre plugin on one machine (Projector Room) quite frequently - which makes me feel a connection with the roots of the original product. Neither the Browser client or Emby Theatre seem to give me quite the same level of smoothness with the Windows Remote. Luke embyserver-63758860416.txt
Carlo 4561 Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 Hi, you server log file is showing massive amount of changes at the file system level which is causing tons of files to be rescanned. It could just be all this scanning that is making it appear to run slow. It also appears you may have duplicate paths in multiple libraries but I didn't dive into looking at this. First thing I would do is make sure all mount points are online and functioning correctly (no missing drives). I would also check all libraries to make sure you don't have any duplicate paths listed anywhere.
Luke 42086 Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 Hi, please try removing the statistics and anime plugins. Then restart the server and see if that helps. Thanks.
Lukeyson 0 Posted June 9, 2021 Author Posted June 9, 2021 I did check my server drives and they are all online. My content is consolidated across disks using Stablebit Drivepool, with some non-Emby content mirrored across multiple drives at the folder level. I do get alerts if one of my disks goes "end of life" but I don't have any of those. I have a drive S.M.A.R.T. scanner running across all disks as well telling me we're all healthy - for the moment. I'm curious as to the 'duplicated paths' comment though. What in particular are you referring to there - multiple libraries pointing to the same path? Plugins removed. I seem to be able to navigate now - and manage Libraries, which I could not do before. Is there something I did wrong with those plugins? Luke
Carlo 4561 Posted June 10, 2021 Posted June 10, 2021 That was based on the XmlSerializer: Deserializing file lines in your log file which seem to repeat the same paths. It could just be that you turned on debug logging which writes out lots more data that is often useless and confusing. Turn that off for normal use and only turn it on when needed as it logs far too much info for normal reading.

Luke I'm not sure if there's an issue with those plugins or not. It's just harder to troubleshoot an issue like this when those are present, given that they're not built by us.
