What triggers music / m3u playlists to update?

I use MediaMonkey (MM) to manage my music files and use a tool provided to export playlists to m3u files.  It was a welcome surprise to see that Emby seems to have read those m3u files and given me the playlists in the app automatically.  I'm trying to figure out what triggers it to update these playlists.  Since I wasn't expecting them to be read, I didn't have the playlist names in good form for Emby so I renamed/reorganized them all in MM.  After that was done, I deleted the previously exported m3u files and re-exported the playlists from MM. But I had to manually delete the playlists from within the Emby app --  and, after scanning library and refreshing metadata (on both the "Playlists" and the actual "Music" libraries),  the playlists were still not updated in Emby.  I finally was able to see the updates after removing the source directory from the library setup and re-adding the source directory so it would basically start the library from scratch.

Please tell me that is not the only way to get the playlists to update.... I add music regularly and am constantly tweaking ratings that affect the MM auto-playlists and really don't want to have to start the library over every time I need to update the playlists.  I'm hoping I am missing something...  I apologize If I missed a previous post that addresses this -- I did look for quite a while...

Thanks!

Hi, These playlists should be found during a scan.
If you rename the playlists to something that is more meaningful you can do a scan and should get the updated playlist name.

Let us know how you make out.

Music Library - Real Time Monitoring should see the change and update Emby.  I went to a album in my library that had a m3u and renamed it and waited about 2 minutes and RTM saw the change and refreshed the item in Emby.

Well -- not sure how long it took -- somewhere between 5 minutes and several days -- but they did finally show the revised names in Emby!  But your answers at least help me understand how it is expected to work.  Thanks!
