Lonald 10 Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 Hi, Like many, previous use of external data for my music collection seemed a bit, well, scrambled. My understanding is the new database for Emby allows some sources to be used more safely. I went through my collection a few months ago with a tag editor and have the music much better identified. What it lacks is pictures of artists and album/CD cover art. Is Emby 4.6.x able to selectively pull the image information into the metadata attached to the files? Or alternatively, can I lock the metadata that I've edited in a global way (5,000+ CD's)? Thanks!
Luke 42085 Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 Hi, what do you mean by pull the image information into the metadata attached to the files?
MBSki 1114 Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 @Lonald Are you not getting artist and album cover art for anything? Or are you getting some, but not others? I had to remove my library and add it back for it to pick up most images. And some still weren't added even though they were available on MusicBrainz. For the images that didn't get added, I saved them locally so I always had an image that Emby would pick up.
Lonald 10 Posted June 8, 2021 Author Posted June 8, 2021 (edited) Thank you for the replies. I made an assumption that images would be brought into the metadata in the music tracks (at least for album covers) as my tagging editor has that as one of the fields. Artist pictures I am not so sure about. I am not thinking about data that resides within Emby outside of the music track itself. I have not connected to any service since before I cleaned up the tags out of concern that my changes would be overwritten. If that is being managed, then I can try MusicBrainz, which is what I used before. Edited June 8, 2021 by Lonald
Carlo 4561 Posted June 8, 2021 Posted June 8, 2021 What is this setting configured to in your Music Library? Do you use a folder setup such as artist\album?
Lonald 10 Posted June 9, 2021 Author Posted June 9, 2021 Looking at the settings I had other or unstructured chosen. I use the artist\album\track structure, so I made a change to that selection and activated the Album Image Fetcher and the Artist Image Fetcher. Fingers crossed, will scan library now. Or will I need to remove the library, rescan the empty library, then add it back? Thanks!
MBSki 1114 Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 I had to remove the library and re-add to get more images added. I still didn't get everything, but I was only missing a few after the rescan.

It "should" be, but it typically isn't especially for libraries that have been in use for awhile. I've always had better luck removing then re-adding the library. It takes less time and has better results.
Lonald 10 Posted June 11, 2021 Author Posted June 11, 2021 After some time the artist images and album covers have appeared. The database needed time for navel gazing, contemplating the universe, going out for a snack, walking the dog, etc. The library looks much more friendly with images! Thanks! 2
