Collections library

Has the collections library been removed?
I did see some patchnotes concerning collections.
However I don't remember anything about removing the library of it?

Collections themselves aren't gone, they can still very much be found in libraries under the collection tab.
Also I never used the library myself as I know where to find the tab, but while creating a new account for a friend, I noticed I couldn't give him access to the collections library.
Then I checked on my account on the emby app if I was able to put it on the homepage/display and it wasn't available.

Is the collection library a part of history from now on?
Or is my server going haywire again?

Displaying collections like a library on the home screen is a user preference in the Home Screen settings.  Have the user log in, click the little user icon in the top right corner, select Home screen from the menu that displays, scroll down and check the 'Display on home screen' box under collections.

Or don't, I hate that option

So do I, but I like my members to at least have access to it in case they cannot find the tab and instead want to display it as a library.
Problem was that it was gone alltogether (as the server admin, it should pop up everywhere for me, but it was simply gone everywhere).
Few days later it was back, so it has been resolved luckily enough.

Unfortunately considering I have been getting more of those small weird issues lately I think I need to consider doing a clean install of the server to prevent further annoyances

@Deathsquirrel got it right.  Collections are now a virtual library in 4.6 so you don't grant access to it anymore from the library access path as the user still has to add it to their home screen anyway.

I don't know if you are aware of this or not but you can turn this on for your users if you like.  Edit a user and click on this option

Then click here

Scroll down a bit and

You can of course configure other things this way for users as well besides just collections.

As you can bring this back as it only affects new installs so it is just a matter of having a copy of anyones /root/default/Collections folder.

@raudraido Shutdown Emby and just place this Collection folder in your Emby programdata /root/default/ folder, start Emby and do a library scan.

Verify the library settings are to your liking.

First off - THANKS Happy2Play!

I just happen to be in the process of building a new 'replacement' server.  I am using the latest Beta on both my old and new servers, but the Collections folder wouldn't show up on the new server.  I had previously copied the folder (removing everything but the options.xml file) from my old Windows server to my new Linux server and dropped it into the /root/default/ folder and I couldn't get it to work.

HOWEVER, when I copied YOUR folder in there, it worked fine and I now have a working Collections folder again.  Your options.xml file is half the size of mine and appears to simply have less accumulated cruft from years of abuse.
