zouzougr 1 Posted June 2, 2021 Posted June 2, 2021 Hello, Starting a few days ago, Emby was unable to identify added videos automatically. Even with manual identifying, it could not fetch any matching data for very well known series and movies.
zouzougr 1 Posted June 2, 2021 Author Posted June 2, 2021 Update. It all started working by itself all of a sudden, don't know what happened.
ebr 16185 Posted June 2, 2021 Posted June 2, 2021 Hi. It sounds like you probably had some sort of network problem reaching the metadata sites. Glad it is working for you now.
zouzougr 1 Posted June 2, 2021 Author Posted June 2, 2021 Hi, actually i checked that many times along with trying various vpns and disabling firewalls, restarting windows, emby server, and all, but nothing had worked.
zouzougr 1 Posted June 2, 2021 Author Posted June 2, 2021 it's as if something was temporarily disabled or blocked on the emby server side. Then it started working all by itself. Maybe it was after the second time i forced a library refresh/scan. But even finding the correct metadata by "Identify" option was not giving any results.
ebr 16185 Posted June 2, 2021 Posted June 2, 2021 Do you have a server log from when you tried to identify something and it didn't return any results?
zouzougr 1 Posted June 2, 2021 Author Posted June 2, 2021 embyserver.txtI attached the server log around the time when i tried today again to fetch the data.
zouzougr 1 Posted June 2, 2021 Author Posted June 2, 2021 i checked today around 16:20 - 30 local time
zouzougr 1 Posted June 2, 2021 Author Posted June 2, 2021 by the way , the Identifying string was "Into The Night" and "His Dark Materials" just incase it would speed up your search or time-selection in the server log.
ebr 16185 Posted June 2, 2021 Posted June 2, 2021 Yep, requests to the provider were failing: 2021-06-02 16:15:49.309 Error HttpClient: Error getting response from https://www.thetvdb.com/api/GetSeries.php?seriesname=into+the+night&language=en *** Error Report *** Version: 4.6.1.0 Command line: C:\Users\Joseph\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\EmbyServer.dll Operating system: Microsoft Windows 10.0.19042 Framework: .NET Core 3.1.13 OS/Process: x64/x64 Runtime: C:/Users/Joseph/AppData/Roaming/Emby-Server/system/System.Private.CoreLib.dll Processor count: 8 Data path: C:\Users\Joseph\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata Application path: C:\Users\Joseph\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system System.Net.Http.HttpRequestException: System.Net.Http.HttpRequestException: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. I'm not sure if tvdb has a rate limit but that's kind of what it looks like. 1
Luke 42081 Posted June 2, 2021 Posted June 2, 2021 Hi there, yes something is blocking your emby server from contacting tvdb and others. If you can resolve this, then this should resolve your issue. Typical causes are firewall, security software or VPN. Can you please look into this and let us know if it helps? Thanks.
zouzougr 1 Posted June 2, 2021 Author Posted June 2, 2021 Firewalls were disabled while other apps were normally accessing the web. I don't know if it has to do with the new 21H1 rollout for W10. Then suddenly it started working, weird, I had refreshed the library once, after the second time it was functional. I don't know if this is related.
zouzougr 1 Posted June 2, 2021 Author Posted June 2, 2021 yeah now it updated the metadata and identified everything "automatically". But I didn't change a thing in my network configuration. I even tried to manually identify movies in my library, now it's showing results. Ever since the windows10 21H1 update rollout has been installed on my PC things have been somewhat weird, some network issues, pages freezing ... I'm not sure if it's related.
Luke 42081 Posted June 2, 2021 Posted June 2, 2021 Yea perhaps windows update related. Thanks for the feedback.
zouzougr 1 Posted June 2, 2021 Author Posted June 2, 2021 most welcome and thanks for your prompt response and feedback, If you need beta testers or any feedback about features or stuff, do not hesitate to contact me. Regards, Joseph. 1
