Direct streaming buffers on all devices - shows as transcoded but buffers

Hi! So I have some star wars fanedits that I haven't encoded in handbrake that are about 30gb each. I think something about the audio tracks requires direct streaming instead of play. However, when playing those files, it will buffer for about a minute, then play maybe 10 seconds, then buffer another minute. However, on the dashboard, it says it has transcoded much of the move; see screenshot. I also attached logs. This happens on my roku tv, chrome browser, and emby theater. I know those are big files but it shows as transcoded fine?

Task manager shows everything 30% or under. Server pc has an i5 and it can transcode a direct-play compatible file to different resolutions just fine.

Encode cache is on an SSD. It has about 50gb free on it. My hard drives are more full recently after buying a few movies, but still have around 100gb free.

Would appreciate any troubleshooting tips!

If transcoding to a lower bitrate it plays fine, it seems a network issue. What's your network configuration (Player & Server, Wi-fi, Lan...)?

Thank you for responding! Good to know! Devices all stream over wifi, server has wired connection to router. Router is Asus AC1900.

Testing bit rates, it seems okay if I transcode at 10ish mbps - maybe the files are too big. a 15gb direct play movie streams fine at max quality.

Edit: I did try rebooting router and modem.

@EddyMerkxs

Exactly. You can try adjusting the quality setting in the app until you find a bitrate value that allows you to play smoothly.

Were you able to do that?

Yes, when I transcode it to 5-10 Mbps it works. However, it's still strange it is so much lower than direct streaming slightly lower bitrate movies. However, I guess the answer is either a hardwired connection or just encoding them like everything else.

Thank you!
