4.6 Music Recognition Problems

Hi,

So the new tagging recognition seems very problematic in some cases. Is there a way to force Emby to use folder/filename-based recognition for certain albums?

For example, in some cases I have multiple copies of the same album but slightly different recordings(eg: Steely Dan Gaucho CD version and SACD version, which sound different) and they are being merged into the same album by Emby, which is really annoying. It's also splitting an album with two discs.

In other cases, an album isn't tagged and therefore isn't being recognized AT ALL.

It does seem like I can fix these issues by fixing the tags on every album, is that the only alternative? I'll note that there are certain file types that can't really be tagged at all, like DTS files(E: And dolby digital AC3 files). These used to recognize and play just fine, but not anymore.

Hi, Yes Emby is now reading this info strictly from the track tags so that is where the info needs to be corrected.

These are problems in your tags and can easily be fixed.  For the two copies of the same album in different formats, give them different Album names.  Something like Gaucho (CD) and Gaucho (SACD) seems reasonable to me.  For the totally untagged album you can either run it through Picard, if it's on musicbrainz, or pop it into MP3tag to manually tag it if it's not.
