Hi, when i ctrl-F in the users page of Emby web it only searches whats visible on the page/screen it doesn't search the whole page, I've tried this on multiple browsers and its the same on all of them it searches the Emby home screen properly. does anyone know of a fix or workaround to search the whole page please, thanks in advance :)

Hi, Find (ctr-F) works just fine for me in 4.7.0.1 in chrome and always has.  If it's not working for you check and turn off any browser add-ons you might have.

How many users do you have that you have to search to find them?

sorry my mistake it is devices that ctrl f (find) doesn't work I've just downloaded a fresh copy of chrome installed it with no addons and still doesn't work, however i'm not on the beta i'm  on 4.6.1.0 but hasn't worked for a while now. when you say it works does it just search what is on your screen? or can you for eg search for something that is at the bottom of the page that you cannot see and would have to scroll to see

If it's any consolation it's working for me in 4.7.0.1as well for devices.
Do you have any other browsers to try this in?

No you can't search something that hasn't been loaded yet.  So any dynamic screen the builds as you scroll can't be searched until you've scrolled to the bottom to fully load all data first.

I've tried this on chrome, edge, opera, Firefox and this doesn't work on any of them.

If i go to the Emby home screen for e.g and search something it will give me the results and i can skip through all of those results from the top of the site all the way to the bottom of the site.

in devices if i search for a word that i cant physically see on my screen and have to scroll down the devices page it will give me no matches found, but if i scroll down the page manually until i can see that word myself and then try searching for it, it will give me a result found

are the devices page and home screen both dynamic? if so how is it possible i can search the whole of the home page?
thank you

ill try downloading the beta on my windows system to see if i get the same issue
edit*
i just tried 4.7.0.1 and tried to search for something on all of the above browsers mentioned and didn't work on those either
i also tried searching for a movie in one of my libraries and also didn't work
If you go into one of your libraries and search a movie with ctrl F (find) that's half way or even the bottom of your screen (a movie beginning with S for eg)  something you would have to scroll to see usually. do you get a result?

Yes that what I just said.  If the data hasn't been loaded into the browser screen there won't be anything to search for.

You would need to scroll to the bottom of the page first, then try

Due to the virtual scrolling that we have now, you're only going to be able to search what you currently see on screen, not the entire list.

To resolve this, we're going to have to intercept the browser search function and replace it with a custom one. That just hasn't been done yet.
