scott46953 30 Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 Made a new Topic for this, I am still tracking the issue down. So far I have not been able to watch my FOX News at 8am 4pm 7pm or 10pm. It seems to be mostly seen from HD Home Run Quad Tuner, but may not be limited to, IPTV if it is effected then it sees to stop at much longer periods and we will not include IPTV for now. So far I have noticed that my tuner seems to stay open streaming data the complete time, however after each recording I am converting in Emby from mpeg2 to HEVC 4Mb and mp3. I just deleted my convert task completely to see if that problem is gone, if so that it maybe something in the conversions. Testing this now. will report back after reading logs of emby and tuner after my 10pm fox 59 news tonight.
Luke 42080 Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 Hi there, can we please look at an example? Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. thanks !
scott46953 30 Posted May 29, 2021 Author Posted May 29, 2021 (edited) 10pm Fox News recorded fine, then I manually converted it and all the rest and everything is fine so far. However I had to delete around 20-30 shows from my dvr and they was all shows that was to be converted from HD Home Home mpeg2 to HEVC 4mb mp3, Since I have to select all recordings to be converted and checked to get that option to work, now I am stuck. There needs to be an option to only convert newly found media. If I test this I risk loosing 600 shows??? This will take some time, I have an emergency Blank drive setup, i can copy all my dvr and then test. Keep in mind, i'm doing all this remotely now from across town, since the office is closed until Tuesday. So to recap for those that didnt follow previously... After the 4.6.1 update my DVR started showing only 2-3 seconds of most (90%) of all recordings from HD Home Run. My IPTV seems ok. The differance being??? The IPTV is already H264 so it just converts the audio to MP3. The HD Home Run Quad tuner is saving MPEG2. Since I have convert setting set for HEVC,H264 and the MPEG2 does not meet any requirement from the setting, it converts the MPEG2 to HEVC because it is option #1 and it also converts the audio to MP3. So, Somewhere the update is causing issues the convert and it stops at 2-3 seconds and the it writes over my original file because I had selected to replace the old file. The convert screen was showing 2000+ videos. But now I had to deleted that convert job to see why my videos was stopping at 2-3 seconds because I see my tuner running several times without stopping, but when I looked at the folder I has been watching the file is no longer 2-3gb it should have converted to around 1gb or less... now the file is only 5mb?? so something went wrong after the video was completed and that left me with the conversion.. So if i'm doing thing backwards its not because i'm crazy, but i sometimes skim through books backwards. Maybe because I used to start with the INDEX when I was younger IDK... Here is log file, I zipped it up at it was getting big. I need some sleep. I'm going to start copying dvr for now... embyserver.zip Edited May 29, 2021 by scott46953

I'm getting ready to convert all my 600 shows and 1000's of eps. I have them all backed up incase something goes wrong with the 2-3 second issues.. Just dont want to stress my server with large work loads for no reason.
scott46953 30 Posted June 1, 2021 Author Posted June 1, 2021 I went ahead and just added each episode instead of selecting the record folder. This gives me much better control of the automatic convert option since I have 600+ shows and thousands of eps and the since they are all coming from several sources IPTV and HD Home Run. Becuase of the differant sources I have several differant types of video codec and audio codec this will help me see if it is linked to a certain codec or if the issues is just linked to the record folder when selected convert all. So far i have not seen the issue since i deleted my recording convert all job.

scott46953 30 Posted June 4, 2021 Author Posted June 4, 2021 ffmpeg-transcode-85145d47-5ffe-4889-a5a9-86d673fee348_1.zip I found the problem tonight by chance. the first fox news converted and everything went good, then the second one started ( that should not exist ) when the fox news 2 started if finished fast and over wrote my new converted fox news 1 But why is there 2 fox news on convert when I only have 1 file in my dvr folder???? and why is #2 fox news ghost erasing my recordings??
Carlo 4561 Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 Hi, can you upload the server log for this time frame?

scott46953 30 Posted June 4, 2021 Author Posted June 4, 2021 Is there any way to resolve the stuck convert videos while resolving the original issue. Topic needs changed to conversion issues since i found the issue in conversions. Anytime a video has an error in the recording, the convert sticks 50% of the time and i have to delete the video to the job and i of course want to delete the video to prevent anyone from watching it and allow the DVR to record a new copy when possible. But the DVR will not record a new copy if it thinks a copy already exists. However, there should be an option to auto delete videos that have detected an error and a max timer set for each video convert, if timer is reached video is marked as error. This would save me from doing this task everyday manually. I'm sure others are also seeing this.
Carlo 4561 Posted June 4, 2021 Posted June 4, 2021 It looks like it's erroring out on an incomplete frame. Could you provide the source file for testing?
scott46953 30 Posted June 4, 2021 Author Posted June 4, 2021 (edited) Believe we have an error, if you look at photo below... The show is still recording and convert is busy doing other jobs, so will catch the original file and copy it to my google drive, I will also grab the log files for this file as well. Also in my google drive you will find wheel of fort dvr recording that error at end of convert, i see this error alot on random dvrs 5-10% of the time but i just delete and go on. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1X3EoyH2mMr9FpL31T2YIBWj8kW2BX9Iv?usp=sharing I copied the wheel ts original file and logs for it as well, but believe that is a differant issue and I always believed that it was a receiver blip error from interference in air waves while recording, since this is hd home run from antenna. Signal is good, but sometimes things happen. If you check it out and see something and its correctable, please let me know. However, if you want to look at that issue, your more then welcome. Maybe it can be fixed also. Just waiting on the price is.. to finish recording, then wait i have to wait for convert to hit the job. I will collect at much at I can on the way. scott46953 30 Posted June 4, 2021 Author Posted June 4, 2021 (edited) Well, that was not expected.... it did not stop at 2-3 seconds this time, it did something different and the second price job errors instead of completes. When it does the 2-3 second thing the job #2 completes with ok. we will try again and keep eye for the next round, but the current files are uploading to goog D, it may take some time to upload, big files. logs and photos of screens shots are all together and named. But why does the error convert now says recording is 1h 16m?? but the finished file is only 420mb? It did delete the original and now my recording is the small bad file. I usually delete these videos when this happens, but i will keep it for a day just incase something is needed that i missed. Got 2 more shows coming with same issues(2jobs same name in convert), hopefully one will do the 2-3 seconds.. the 2 shows that finished both converted ok, then when it hit the job #2 in convert it just error and did not write over the 1st converted job. So everything came out ok on these. However, i believe if the Ghost job #2 never existed then the complete issue with convert should go away and since the 2-3 second isssue that started this off is also linked to the Ghost job #2 then I think that should resolve the complete issue in several ways. But for now, I turned off my direct delete by enabling my trash can for the dvr drive. So when emby deletes a recording and emby spits it out at 2-3 seconds, I can just go to the trash and recover the original file so you can see if it is missing frames or something. However, the 2-3 second thing did not exist until after the recent update 4.6.1 or the big update before that. Missing frames I can usually keep my original file and fast forward over the bad spot and continue playing the show when needed. After checking or playing, the show always got deleted so it can be recorded again if it comes on again. sorry if i repeat myself, i try not too. I'm taking a break from this for a few hours. I'll check back and see if I find any goodies in my trash... Edited June 4, 2021 by scott46953
scott46953 30 Posted June 5, 2021 Author Posted June 5, 2021 (edited) ok, i got fox news at 4, fox news at 7, wheel of fort, all 3 with just seconds of a recording. getting ready to up them to the goog driv see if i can find the logs as well... uploaded and done, i will have to shut off auto convert soon or i risk loosing more recordings. I did notice that if the convert task was busy with loads of tasks that this issue did not happen. but when the convert is idle waiting and a new detected video is added this happens almost always from my hdhomerun, not sure if it is linked to the mpeg2 becuase iptv is running h264... idk the ff logs are uploaded, you can see what log goes with each by the time stamps. uploading new sever log now as well.. Carlo 4561 Posted June 5, 2021 Posted June 5, 2021 wheel of fortune didn't work for me either, but after looking further had a lot of bad encoding in it. Let's see what your others look like. What tuner were these recorded with?

Let's see what your others look like. What tuner were these recorded with? hdhomerun quad. however, i can toss out bad recordings when they happen, just need this other issue fixed for now. errors can be tossed automatically as stated earlier with an added option. I do not have original files as it looks like when emby over writes the original files it does not go to my trash however if the 2nd task ghost was not there, it would stop erasing my recordings...
scott46953 30 Posted June 5, 2021 Author Posted June 5, 2021 (edited) I temp removed the task timer for convert until this can be resolved. I wonder if I can manually remove the 2nd ghost tasks and then manually start my convert task until this gets fixed? Converting is a must for my system hdhomerun spits out 2-4gb an hour and h265 can compress it down to 1gb an hour with very little loss. I just need to make sure you see both ffmpeg log files, the first one spits out a good convert, the second one wipes my recordings and kills the file. why is it converting something that is already converted? its in the code somewhere... ........................ Anyways, can we add the option to set a convert file as error after set time? like example i can convert each video regardless of time or size within 15 minutes. If the timer 15 minutes hits, then the video is stuck due to bad encoding... set as error and continue to next convert task. also new option to auto delete error convert task videos or move to set folder so it can be checked later by the operator. these two options are a needed feature and will allow the automatic task to continue without getting stuck and then it will sort out the bad videos or delete automatically. Because right now,,, it just stops or gets stuck until the operator deletes the stuck task, and then the operator has to delete the video or the task or it will retry again later resulting in it getting stopped or stuck again. I look forward to this getting fixed and if I can further assist with the convert issue currently please let me know. For now I will wait for replies. If i need to change to beta, I can do so no problem. thanks Edited June 5, 2021 by scott46953
Luke 42080 Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 Hi @scott46953 are you still having an issue with this with Emby Server 4.6.4 ?
