alphabetical search

First problem I've had in years with emby. When trying to jump to certain alphabetical title groupings the result is the same letter. "C" in my instance."A" works, as does "U' through "Z". Any other letter brings me back to "C". Very frustrating when I have to scroll through 1100 titles. This just started 4 days ago. I'm using the ROKU app. Any ideas? I don't even know how to describe this differently.

Hi, could you test this in the web interface and let us know if it works correctly there?
Do you have any other clients you could try this in as well?

What is the exact title that it is stopping on? There is something about the sort title on that file.

Yep.  The item it is going to is going to be the culprit here.

I've tested this on the web interface and on Emby for Samsung. They both worked OK. But I prefer to use emby on my ROKU.

Searching from b through s always stopped on "the Boys S01E05". I deleted the file and the it stopped on "the boysS01e04". Deleted that also and now it stops on "the crown s4305".

Were those items sequential in the list?  If you edit metadata on the item it is landing on, what is in the "Sort Title" field?

Also, what view is this that you have episodes in a grid?  What kind of library and exactly where in the app?

I had the episode wrong. It was "The.Crown.S01E07.BDRip.X264-REWARD" and the sort title field was empty. That was just the title field.

When emby opens, I click on "my media" which brings me to the grid. Everything is in "movies". When I drop down to the first title I can arrow left and a-z is on the left. I used to scroll down to the letter of the title I'm looking for and choose the title to play.

I'm a little bit confused.  Are you saying your have TV series like "The Crown" in a Movie Type library?

Hi.  That is the label on top of a row of library icons.  Which library do you click on?

Like Cayars, I think you must have everything lumped into one library with an improper type...?

Yes. everything is lumped into one library. I'm sorry. When I started with emby nothing else would work. It all worked for years until it didn't. Thought I'd ask for help. I don't need this back and forth pain in the ass questioning. Sorry I'm not set up your way. Thanks.

What you need to understand is the different library types have different meta-data providers and use different calls.  So for Emby to correct match and give you proper tabs at the top of your library you need to set it up as a movie library.

Same with TV Shows as and same with Music libraries.

There is a reason you need to have your media setup for each type and have one library per type setup in Emby.

The bottom line is that if you want to expect Emby to function correctly, you need to use it properly and set things up properly otherwise Emby is just going to do what you tell it to.

Right when everything is in one library we do the best we can to try and accommodate that, but for best results they should be separated.

Emby does not currently support this structure either.

 LibraryMonitor: Watching directory C:\Users\Camden\Documents\Vuze Downloads

C:\Users\Camden\Documents\Vuze Downloads\Lucifer.S05E06.720p.WEB.x265-TheSpectre\Lucifer.S05E06.720p.WEB.x265-TheSpectre.mkv

Currently all shows must have a Series folder.

Not sure how this worked at all before, but would need to know what content type library you were using?

Hi.  We're asking questions in order to fully understand what your issue is so that we can help you solve it.

Now that we understand the issue, our best advice is to follow the guides to organize your media into its different types in libraries.  If you do that, I think you will find that you will get a much better experience with Emby.

Thanks.
