Hello

Running on 4.6.1.0

If i start playback in browser(firefox or edge) every movie will freeze after 1-2 minutes
complete freeze
it only happend on files who need to video playback that requires conversion without re-encoding (container swap)
i have disabled playback that requires transcoding

if i enable transcoding for my user and file gets full transcoded there is no freeze while playback so my guess its only happen when conversion without reencoding happen
direkt playing with tv and apps works without problem its only when a file need to convert without re-encode

attached log is with enable throttle and one time with disabled throttle

testet three different PCs for browser playback all get same freeze
and testet two different emby server all same freeze

Hi, does it only happen when you're using sub titles or the same without use of subs?

Posted

happend with both sub enable and disabled - no difference

OK thanks for checking.

Do you have plenty of room on the drive running Emby Server where transcodes/remux take place?

yea i have nearly empty drive

I'm playing back a movie from your system right now as I type this and not seeing any problems.
I'm  using Chrome.  I'll let it play about 15 minutes and then I try again with Firefox.

Just wanted to give you an update.

Just FYI - I'm seeing a similar thing on FF on Linux.   FF version 84.0.1 (64-bit)

Console at time of playback freeze attached

The attached contains a screenshot of the event with timestamps, an ffmpeg log for the stream in question, and a listing of the transcode directory's contents.  There was plenty of space free in it when this happened.  Both client and server are running ntp.

Hi, you shouldn't have to do this, but just for testing, if you disable the server's transcoding throttle feature, does that make a difference?

Posted

for me no difference with enabled or disabled throttle - same freeze
only thing i can notice with disable throttle is that the blue transcode bar in dashboard will go till the end but playback also freeze after ~2 min

With throttling off the frequency of these is reduced but I still get them

Yes I am @Luke - do you need more data? I believe I can reproduce it usually within 20 mins of play time.

Actually @Luke I should take that back - it's possible that I'm not seeing it any more.  I may have been confusing the freezups one gets when one fast-forward/fast rev's too much with the "it was just playing" freeze-ups.  I'll let you know if I see it again.
