Hi I am in the process of moving from Plex due to issues, I did get a number of my questions answered on Reddit and was told to join the forum for more help and hints etc.

While a lot of things I have manager to slowly work out myself there's still a couple of things that I could do on Plex that I can't on Emby, so not sure if I am missing something or if I should make it a request etc lol.

Its basically one single thing but can half multiple uses :D, Merging how do, Can I?

On Plex I could Merger things like Audiobooks that have splintered so they appear as one, same with Music.

Also Plex seemed to (cos of the way my folders are) auto merge the Same film together, let me explain :D I have some films (not many) that also have a 4K counterpart and I keep them in the same folder as the 1080p version, one Plex these would be listed as one film but it would play the one that your device supported and or you could chose which version to Play.

On Emby it has split them and makes it a little confusing, am I missing something is this not something that can be done and needs requesting etc?

And last thing, Apps Dose or is Xbox getting a Native App? I know I can download Emby Theatre but this is basically the windows app ported lol

Thank you and I hope to stick with Emby moving forward :D

Guess you've rapidly found some awesome Emby bugs. Yay.

Audiobooks don't exactly seem to be an Emby strong suit.

I think for different versions of films its best to put both in the same folder, as you are. I thought for two versions of a movie Emby would show one but have a drop down list for you to choose the version, but now I look it just seems to show them separately. Maybe I need to look more or store differently or something. You can rename a movie to say The Hobbit (4K) if you want, as I do.

Don't think Emby automatically chooses the best version of a movie based on anything really.

My son uses an older xbox for Emby and it seems ok, though not so good for audiobooks apparently...

For multiple movie versions in the same folder, make sure to follow the Emby file naming convention

Multiple versions of the same content can be stored in a single movie folder.

/Movies
  /300 (2006)
  /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - 1080p.mkv
  /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - 1080p-trailer.mp4
  /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - 4K.mkv
  /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - 720p.mp4
  /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - extended edition.mp4
  /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - directors cut.mp4
  /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - 3D.hsbs.mp4

Each version must begin with the folder name, followed by " - ".

Emby multi-versioning requires specific naming scheme, but there is a plugin in the plugin section of the forum.

Emby Movie Naming : Emby

I personally have a seperate folder and use the cover art plugin to determine which movie is 4k vs 1080.

I also don't share the 4k folder out to any users so they don't take my server down due to transcoding.

Sorry, that is not true.  The app will choose the best version based on its format and the capabilities of the device.
