Emby Latest Stable Build - Repeated Crashing

Recommended Posts

I had an issue with 4.5 to 4.6.0 not accepting my credentials even through they were valid, this also may be related.  Which was fixed when I went from 4.6.0 to 4.6.1

I think that might have been when it got corrupted.

Will the database repair delete anything?  Collections, Libraries, Record Schedule?

Is that what the server logs says?

Because on 4.6.0 it kept preventing from logining in, despite my login not being changed.  Had to restart server to let me login (this happened on several occasions).

Thanks all for assistance, I will do a database backup tonight and try repair tomorrow.

Right but we still need to know the exact error from the server log to provide the proper guidance to fix then issue.  The previous posted error does not have all the information.

You don't need to backup to try the first option.  It's not destructive.

All you need to do is (covered in article) is shutdown Emby.  If you can, verify no other versions of Emby Server are running.

Then delete the two lock files mentioned in the article.
Restart Emby and try again.

If that doesn't fix your problem then by all means do a backup and continue with step two trying to recover the library.db.
But just removing the locks fixes this for 95+% of people so it's quite safe to try and likely your issue.

Deleted both files - same error

A server log will say whether it is a Busy: database is locked or Corrupt: database disk image is malformed.

Hi @CaptJ, did you go through all of the steps in the article? Make sure you've also updated to 4.6.1.

I was having exactly the same issue. Deleting the db files didn't work. What worked for me was running the Setup.exe again

I spoke too soon. After restarting emby back to the same issue. Missing the admin menu and emby crushing after couple of minutes.

It looks like you have a permission problem at this location.

Logs like a rogue Recordings folder naming, pretty sure other topics on this issue exist.

You were right. I deleted all of those "Recordings11111...." folders through windows explorer. There were around 300 of them. 60 of them wouldn't delete. Those folders were showing in the Library settings menu. I deleted them manually one by one. I can restart the emby server without any issues. Thank you all for your help.

Did you have the trailing slash on Live TV config page (default Recording path)?

No. Just a drive letter to a map network drive

Are these rogue Recording numbered folders still being made?

Since deleting them yesterday they stopped.
Yesterday the power supply failed for the external hard drive that the PVR records to. So the drive wasn't reachable for a while. I'm wondering if this had something to do with it.

Possibly as the rogue folder is for the default location instead of your custom location.

I'm looking into improving this. Thanks.
