ghhata76 0 Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 Since the 4.6 release, I've lost the ability to access the normal (Movies) folder view. I can select a folder, which takes me to a Movies/season/episode-style view, but in this view the titles are wrong and the episode I select isn't the one that plays. I've tried scanning library files and refreshing metadata with no luck. How do I get the original folder view back?

Carlo 4561 Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 Hi, yes we need more info and if you could a couple screen shots so we can see what you're issue is. However, try running a full library scan first if you haven't done that since updating to the latest version.
ghhata76 0 Posted May 26, 2021 Author Posted May 26, 2021 As I wrote, I already ran a library scan. This is what I see now when I choose "Folder" view on the server (there is no more "Folder" view available when using Emby via my Roku, but the screen is the same): The titles seem to be abbreviated versions of the real titles and clicking on any particular episode launches a different episode from the same folder/season.

Hi, this looks like a normal series screen. What exactly is the problem on this screen? Can you please go into specifics? What exactly do you click on that you feel takes you to the wrong item?
ghhata76 0 Posted May 26, 2021 Author Posted May 26, 2021 Two problems. First is that the titles are abbreviated - each episode actually contains two episodes and their filenames reflect that. The previous version of Emby (that I was using up until a few days ago) displayed the filenames correctly. This version oddly seems to cut out the middle of the filename (which contains one of the episode titles), and then splices the beginning and end together, such that now only one of the episode titles is shown. Second, if I select an episode, say the first one that's titled "Wishing Well", Emby plays this: This is not "Wishing Well". It's a different episode from a different file.
Carlo 4561 Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 Hi, what does the filename look like for that episode?

This would be a metadata issue. What is your library metadata provider order and which are enabled? To me it would suggest only using TMDB. Folder view is not really any different the Show view when you enter a time. So if previous version showed something different then I would have to guess the metadata for this series was Refreshed. Do you write nfo files with media? If so can you post one. Note FILENAMES are not displayed for Identified episodes, metadata Title is. Edited May 27, 2021 by Happy2Play
thesnappysneezer 2 Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 I think this is thetvdb.com metadata listing format. They treat each short in an episode as if it is a different episode. I reckon that Episode 2 of this show for you is now titled the name of the second short in Episode 1. Perhaps the series was listed the way you and most sane people would do it when you first entered these in but someone at thetvdb corrected it to their admins preferred format.
Happy2Play 9782 Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 True But both providers list Wishing Well as 2x04. So I can assume Season/episode naming has to be adjusted according to provider data. Big City Greens - Aired Order - Season 2 - TheTVDB.com Big City Greens: Season 2 (2019) — The Movie Database (TMDb) (themoviedb.org) I am guessing your media is in the same format as IMDB shows it but they are not a free provider so your options are using a multi-episode naming scheme (S02E01-E02, S02E03-04) or splitting episodes apart. Big City Greens - Season 2 - IMDb Almost all toons are this way.

You can disable and change priority in your library options. Keep in mind that other series might be better with default settings, so you could consider moving looney tunes out to another library, or leaving it as-is, locking the metadata on the series, and then doing a one-time manual fix up.

Only because the first time around, we did a search with the metadata providers and they didn't return any results, so that's why you only saw file names. This time around, they did return results, and that's why those results were used. The server is simply doing what you've told it to do based on the options of your library.

Only way that is possible if if Emby had no idea what this series was ie unidentified. But my post above breaks it down as the provides do not have the media in the order you do.

Exactly, that was never by design, it was only by chance, because no internet metadata could be found. @ghhata76 does that answer your question on that? Are you saying you'd prefer to just see all file names?

Are you saying you'd prefer to just see all file names? @Luke Yes. Some of the information pulled from the internet metadata sources seems to be in conflict with the sources I'd previously found, and removing them as sources was easier than renaming all of my files. Thanks again.
