Carlo 4560 Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 If you're talking about adding a path to it from Emby Server yes you need to be able to access it. You would either need to setup a user account and mount it on the server OR setup the drive for anonymous access. If you are using a Shield TV you can set this up directly on the Shield TV in system menu using a username and password.
IvanGalvao 0 Posted May 26, 2021 Author Posted May 26, 2021 i m using a xiami mi box s how i can configure the username and password to acess its strange 1º time i try i can get the acess but i never can go to my network folder again
IvanGalvao 0 Posted May 26, 2021 Author Posted May 26, 2021 i allready setuo the drive for anonymous access on widowns but i can t acces the path
Luke 42077 Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 What you need to do is mount the network path to a local path using the tools the operating system. Then add that local path in to Emby Server.
IvanGalvao 0 Posted May 26, 2021 Author Posted May 26, 2021 using the tools the operating system?? what tools i can use to do that?
ebr 16169 Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Hi. I'm not sure you can with a Mi Box. I think only the Shield has this capability right now (but could be wrong).
Carlo 4560 Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Only the ShieldTV can do the mounting. With a MiBox you need to have anonomous/guest access without the need for a login. Have you thought of plugging the USB drive into the MiBox vs the router?
IvanGalvao 0 Posted May 27, 2021 Author Posted May 27, 2021 no bro i have connect to the router if i connect to mi box i lose the hability of transfer the files from network thats the pb. With a MiBox i need to have anonomous/guest access without the need for a login but how i can do that?? i can connect with other file manager to network i can t only connect emby. that sucks ... i really like this media center
Carlo 4560 Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 What router do you have the USB drive connected to?
IvanGalvao 0 Posted May 27, 2021 Author Posted May 27, 2021 its call fibergateway is a router from my isp , but i create a samba server with lan drive samba with a old android box i got store but i can t acess to network at same :D god what a struggle
IvanGalvao 0 Posted May 27, 2021 Author Posted May 27, 2021 the android box is a litle weak what i really want is connect my network drive using samba server to emby server put i can t see nothing is folder of emby
IvanGalvao 0 Posted May 27, 2021 Author Posted May 27, 2021 in windowns the path is this one \\Share\HDD-F08E1A508E1A1028\Emby but in emby it can t connect my server is set to anonymous logon on so i don t need user and pass
Carlo 4560 Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 I don't know how this would work from Android TV but you could experiment with setting up a guest account or setting a user/passwords and trying something like smb://user_name:password@server_name/sharename or maybe //user_name:password@server_name/sharename from the Android TV box. I honestly don't know if this is possible or not from ATV (other than Shield TV). If you can't figure this out by the weekend I can try this for you but need to reconfigure a couple things to do it. Have you done any Google searches on accesses anonymous drive share in Android TV?
IvanGalvao 0 Posted May 30, 2021 Author Posted May 30, 2021 no i give up and connect the hard drive where i have the media center xD i m thinking to get a nas server can you recomend me a good nas server to emby with a low budget? but works fine i m using a old android box and works perfectily but i can get one stream i want a better one to have multistreams in 4k can you recomend me one? pls
Carlo 4560 Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 What do you consider low budget? How many hard drives do you think you'll want to install in the NAS? 2, 4 or more?
IvanGalvao 0 Posted May 30, 2021 Author Posted May 30, 2021 just one or two max to be cheaper!! in future i buy one better
IvanGalvao 0 Posted May 30, 2021 Author Posted May 30, 2021 200 max if i can spend less better xD its possible multistreams with a low buget server like that or is better i wait and spend more when i can to have a massive server its only for 10 streams max my family and some friends
Carlo 4560 Posted May 30, 2021 Posted May 30, 2021 Personally I'd save up some additional money then get something like a Synology 920+ as it will have 4 drive bays, an Intel 64 Celeron CPU with built in QuickSync which can do transcoding and tone mapping for 4K content. It's probably more like $550 or so but gives you a lot more options. You can add additional memory to bring it up to 8GB with a $25 memory chip on Amazon, It has 2 SSD m.2 slots if you want to add (optional) for caching to make the box faster yet. It can be expanded by eSATA and even USB3 drives plugged into it can be made made available. It's actually a good platform to run Emby Server on and just works without the issues of other low cost solutions.
