media-junkie 1 Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 My Emby server automatically updated yesterday and now it crashes within a minute or two of starting. I can briefly see errors on the dashboard related with library scanning but cant keep the server running long enough to do anything. Server is running on Windows 10 on a physical device. Has been running stable for years. I've made no changes to config... it was running fine, then update, no broken.
Luke 42079 Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Hi there, can you please attach the emby server log from when this happens? Thanks.
media-junkie 1 Posted May 25, 2021 Author Posted May 25, 2021 Sorry, yes. Attached it a chunk of the log from the most recent se rver restart. I can get more, I was just not sure what was pertinent. Emby Log.txt
Luke 42079 Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Can you attach the whole thing from the time that you started the server, until the time that it shut down? thanks.
media-junkie 1 Posted May 25, 2021 Author Posted May 25, 2021 Not sure why it keep creating a the Recorded Shows folder and appending a "1" to the end but I have dozens of them now with a crap ton of "1" on the end.
media-junkie 1 Posted May 25, 2021 Author Posted May 25, 2021 See if this one helps. embyserver-63757508452.txt
media-junkie 1 Posted May 25, 2021 Author Posted May 25, 2021 Also note that the tray icon for Emby still appears to be running but the GUI is completely dead in the water about 1-2 minutes after restarting the server.
Luke 42079 Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 OK yes I think the issue is tied to the recording folder thing. I don't know why this issue would have started with 4.6 because I think it has acted the same way for a long time. But regardless it should be easy to fix and I can get that fix up on the beta channel tonight hopefully, and then in a 4.6.2 maintenance release next week.
media-junkie 1 Posted May 25, 2021 Author Posted May 25, 2021 Any work around for me until then? I'm kind of dead in the water at the moment. Obviously not the end of the world or anything... but I dont even use the recorded shows folder.
Luke 42079 Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 You could try deleting all of those Recording1111 folders and restart the server. As I said I'll try to have something up on the beta channel tonight so it won't be that long.
Spaceboy 2573 Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 actually i have also noticed emby keeps on recreating a recordings folder in the default location. i've deleted it twice now. my actual recordings folder is elsewhere and i am not suffering from crashes
media-junkie 1 Posted May 25, 2021 Author Posted May 25, 2021 I deleted the original "Recorded Shows" folder and restarted the Emby server. It successfully scanned my media libraries and appears to be stable... at the moment.
media-junkie 1 Posted May 25, 2021 Author Posted May 25, 2021 Seems to be working fine. While digging into my libraries I noticed the update made changes. My TV Series library originally referenced 2 folders prior to the update. After the update it only referenced 1 folder location and a second Recorded Shows library was created and the missing folder from TV Series was now referenced in the second Recorded Shows library. Not sure if that useful or important but thought I'd put it out there. I've put everything back to the way it was and it is still running with no crashes and no new folders being created.
