thevasilisk 2 Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 (edited) Hello, I've been having an issue with tracks appearing in search results. They appear twice - once as they're supposed to, with the album cover and artist's name intact, and one that doesn't have the album cover and is missing the artists name as a tag. (This happens on the web app too, just posting mobile results as that is what I have access to at the moment) When I check the metadata, both results point to the same file. This seems to happen with every song I search for. Not sure what caused this, as I haven't made any structure changes, and I don't recall having this issue before. Looking forward to hearing back. Carlo 4561 Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Hi, can you duplicate this as well in the web on a PC? Screen shots please.
thevasilisk 2 Posted May 25, 2021 Author Posted May 25, 2021 (edited) Hi, Yes, the same thing happens on PC. In the "Top Results" tab, it's the coverless one, and in the "Songs" tab, both appear. Edited May 25, 2021 by thevasilisk
Carlo 4561 Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 I'm not able to reproduce in 4.6.1 Have you done a full library scan?
thevasilisk 2 Posted May 25, 2021 Author Posted May 25, 2021 (edited) Yes, I have tried doing a full library scan and restarted Emby, neither of which seem to have helped. Edited May 25, 2021 by thevasilisk
Luke 42083 Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 How many emby libraries have you created, and what folder paths did you add to each one?
thevasilisk 2 Posted May 25, 2021 Author Posted May 25, 2021 I have 3 libraries. One for movies, one for TV shows, both of which are a single folder on my G drive. My music library, which is the one I use primarily, is set up from a bunch of root drives, like in the attached screenshot. Those drives contain mostly directories sorted by artist, with a couple of miscellaneous directories that have had a .ignore file added to them.
Luke 42083 Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Have you run a scan of all libraries using the scan all libraries button?
Solution Maisy 37 Posted May 25, 2021 Solution Posted May 25, 2021 These dances can be helpful if you know how to dance the A. or B. Emby Dances. A. 1. Remove the offending library from you Emby Server. 2. Do a Full Library scan. 3. Wait for it to finish. 4. Re-make your library. 5. Do a Full Library Scan. 6. Wait for the scan to finish, it will take longer scanning your new library. B. 1. If you still have trouble scan that library only. 2. Refresh all missing metadata on the whole library. 3. scan that library again. I had to remove my main music library, it was a horrible mess until it "clean scanned" after the A. Emby Dance. That is all I had to do to make me happy again. 1
Maisy 37 Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 (edited) And if the problem remains, look closely at your tags in the media affected. Edited May 25, 2021 by Maisy
thevasilisk 2 Posted May 25, 2021 Author Posted May 25, 2021 (edited) I've just restarted the server and ran the scan again, doesn't seem to have helped. Attaching the log file to this post. The only errors I see are failures to access, but AFAIK the Recovery folder is a system folder that I can't access in any way. Not sure why it's trying to access those. embyserver.txt Edited May 25, 2021 by thevasilisk

Just reporting this bug in case it's useful and/or ever comes up again.
Maisy 37 Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 What is your setting for music library, one of the "perfectly" settings or "other"? Also your paths are a very different than mine. I use this and it is sufficient for me, do you have your tracks in album folder or some other configuration? Music\Artist Name\Album Name\name of track.flac. or Music\Artist Name\Album Name\no. artist name - name of track.flac I have a perfectly 96.8% organized library, but am using the "Other" setting, getting best results with that. Some weird soundtracks and summer sampler things and a few strange downloaded tracks from Google Music long ago with no online metadata ... the worse ones I put in a separate library because I don 't want to delete them and might be inclined to listen one day, but for now I didn't need them in my main library. That opened the door for me to move more of that "fodder" to that new (I call it 'Music+') library I could use perfectly organized now, but all is fine in my clean main music library, "it ain't broke", so I leave it as is. It just works.
thevasilisk 2 Posted May 25, 2021 Author Posted May 25, 2021 I bit the bullet and did a full rescan, and that seems to have fixed the issue. I do have it organized like Music\Artist Name\Album Name\name of track, except I don't have one root directory as it simply doesn't all fit on one hard drive, it's spread out across drives. This wasn't causing an issue before, nor does it appear to do so now as the library has fixed itself after doing the shuffle. Maybe I was just being stubborn and should have done it earlier, but I feel like reporting the bug was good anyways. Marking as solved. Thanks to all! 2
Luke 42083 Posted May 25, 2021 Posted May 25, 2021 Thanks for the feedback. Apologies for the disruption.
