Question about Router loopback

This just started happening the other day.  Emby is no longer responding using the Remote (WAN) access URL.  There were no changes to the server or my network that I am aware of.

Things I've checked:

  1. Port 8096 is open when I use a port checker website tool.
  2. I can ping my server remotely and get the correct IP address back
  3. I can load Emby in a browser just fine within my network using the In-Home (LAN) access URL.
  4. I am using the latest version (4.6.0.50)
  5. I tried disabling my firewall temporarily and that made no difference.
  6. I looked briefly at the logs but am not really sure what I'm looking for.  Either way I didn't notice any blocked logins or failed attempts or anything like that.

This is what I see in Chrome when I try to connect with the remote URL:

This site can’t be reached xxx.xx.xx.xx refused to connect.
Try:

Checking the connection
Checking the proxy and the firewall

ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

I would appreciate any troubleshooting steps or advice.  Thanks!

Thanks for that article.  It appears that my router has loopback capabilities disabled and i was testing the remote address from within my network.  I tested from another network entirely and my remote URL is working.
