Apologies if this is redundant, I didn't find anything while searching, Emby server seemed to be working 24 hours ago after updating. Today i cannot get the service to start. Im pretty sure I havent changed anything.

When I open services and click start on my Emby service I get a message that says

Any help is appreciated.

I did follow that exact guide when I redid it today, It was working perfectly for probably 2 years.

Something is denying the server access to the port that it needs:

2021-05-23 19:26:22.348 Error Main: Error in appHost.Init
	*** Error Report ***
	Version: 4.6.0.50
	Command line: C:\Users\Derrick\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system\EmbyServer.dll -service
	Operating system: Microsoft Windows 10.0.19042
	Framework: .NET Core 3.1.13
	OS/Process: x64/x64
	Runtime: C:/Users/Derrick/AppData/Roaming/Emby-Server/system/System.Private.CoreLib.dll
	Processor count: 16

System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: System.Net.Sockets.SocketException (10013): An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions.

First thing to do is try rebooting your machine, and then let's see if it's still an issue after that. Thanks.

I have tried it twice, it does the same thing, is it the port 8096 that its being denied access to?

That would seem to indicate possibly that another program is running that is already using port 8096.

How many versions of Emby Server do you see running?

if you run an elevator CMD prompt (run as administrator) what do you see when you run?

netstat -an

it was a lot of text so i just copied it into a txt document, but I didn't see any thing using port 8096.

8920 is showing as being used in that list.

Did you run that when Emby was not running?

I closed Emby from the hidden icons and ran netstat again and get the same thing, 8920 still shows up, how can I see what's using it?

Ok, Im an idiot, I setup something with IIS a couple weeks back. just checked the bindings and I had put 8920 in there for some reason, probably didnt know what i was doing and trying to get auto cert renewal working. deleted that binding and the service started.

thanks for working through it with me, weird that it took so long to rear its head.
