Emby not making metadata sub folder in tv show folder to save thumbnail images and nfo files rather populating the whole folder. I dont want to hide these files but emby should create metadata sub folder and save thumbnail images and nfo files there rather populating the root folder

That doesn't sound like a good idea to me as that would make many things much harder to manage.  Trying to delete an episode for example could require having to visit multiple folders vs just highlighting all parts right next to each other in a folder.

The nfo format is used by many applications. We are following the naming conventions used. It's not something we've just made up and decided for ourselves.

@LukeFYI If ImageSavingConvention is set to legacy in system.xml a metadata folder is created in each season folder and episodes images are stored there instead of the root season directory. The .nfo files still end up in the season folder. For me, the ImageSavingConvention legacy setting was respected after updating to 4.6.0.50. Maybe it was reset for @Anixd?

I forgot about that. Maybe we should stop doing that for episodes. I think that's not really where it was wanted the most.

Personally, I like the images being stored in the metadata folder. It reduces the clutter in the main folder when viewing the library in Windows Explorer. But I can accomplish the same thing by hiding the images when they are created.

I don't see any support in the system for reading those files from the metadata directory, which means if you did a fresh install they would not be used and new images would get downloaded again. It's an incomplete implementation, and at this point, I'm not sure it makes sense to invest time and effort on it.

so the only option left is hiding files created right.

Why do you need to hide them? It doesn't make your system faster or anything like that.
It would only be for your perceived value in looking at different folders.

But if you like that you may want to use this feature in each library

FYI That option is not available for Emby on non-Windows platforms.

Yes, you're correct.  I just looked on my Synology install and it's not there.  I never noticed this before.  THANKS

But just curious, since Emby is managing this content why does it matter?
Is this just for your own visual reference when looking at your folders?

For me hiding the .nfo and image files is a way to reduce the "clutter" when viewing media folders in Explorer outside of Emby. It's something I've been doing for years long before Emby, and old habits die hard ;-).
