Eradev 8 Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 Can we please re-add support for "Series.Name.E000.ext" as it was before? Last updates broke/removed that and it's a mess.

Eradev 8 Posted May 22, 2021 Author Posted May 22, 2021 (edited) IDK which version broke this as it's on automatic updates, but this used to sort the episodes in the correct order. Now it's all over the place Tried refreshing metadata with the latest Beta and it is still not supported. I also tried to place another series named similarly in a season folder, and they're still in incorrect/random order making me think "EXXX" is no longer supported. Edited May 22, 2021 by Eradev

But do not see this scheme added to any recent build. Also Series.Name.E00.ext will not equal Series.Name.E00.123455.ext, I would not think.

And just need support for something.Exxx.something.ext at least to sort by episode. Still, I see no reason why it's not at least trying to sort alphabetically when parsing fails.
Luke 42080 Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 Are the episodes showing up in all places as expected, but just not in your desired order?

Not sure about the first part of your question, but of course it's not the desired order when it's totally random. Edited May 22, 2021 by Eradev

I also tried to use the "Sort Titel(Sortierung Titel)" option which you can set in the MetaData Manager but It seems like It doesn't get sorted after that name then. I'm using the latest beta. See pics.
Luke 42080 Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 It's wanting to sort by numbers, but it's not falling back to sort title when the numbers are absent. We'll get this corrected in a 4.6.1 maintenance update. Thanks.

Luke 42080 Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 Just now, Eradev said: Updated to 4.6.1.0, refreshed the metadata, and "Next Up" is still messed up. So the fixes I made are going to help with episodes using non-standard naming in the context of just a single season. Next up is something that works with the entire episode list of the whole series, and that still needs some additional work.

Happy2Play 9781 Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 Is this just a database update issue and not a new series issue? @Luke Partial test.

No I had to Force Identify for the Series to show episodes, but order was maintained off of filename, at least in this new addition.
Happy2Play 9781 Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 Could someone test removing a Series, doing a library scan, then re-adding that Series.
thesnappysneezer 2 Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 Hey this is the format I use, I have a folder named television, and in that I have folders named for the shows like NewsRadio and in that folder files are named like S01E01 Pilot. It seems to me the title I list after those numbers is inconsequential as it gathers the title aligned with S01E01 from the TVDB and sometimes that can be different from the order that is story dictated, but rather a broadcast error. In the past I may have had some files labeled like yours and other examples but I noticed other sorts of errors and complete ignorance of random entries in other formats. Some people might add another folder level for season. You should take a peak at the series at tvdb to see how they have things labeled and ordered. For more obscure titles, they might need your effort to amend their entries, but they are sticklers to their preferred format, and they have some silly belief in regard to anthology shows like Bullwinkle or Animaniacs where they break the episode up into the shorts that appear in it, thus throwing off the actual episode count by a great many logical numbers.

The only thing that I noticed was If a file has a number somewhere else in the title it will not get identify correctly. And If the naming schem counts from behind 001, 002, 010, 100, etc. It will also not get identify correctly. Some files are then identify as Specials.
Luke 42080 Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 Right well these are the kinds of little quirks that you're going to run into by using non standard episode file naming. For best results I would check out our tv naming guide: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159110-tv-naming
Eradev 8 Posted May 26, 2021 Author Posted May 26, 2021 I still think having support for "something.E000.something" would fix a lot of problems.
