BillybobBilly 18 Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 Ever since updating to the new version episodes do not auto-play correctly. Once an episode is finished it hangs on the "next episode starting in X seconds" thing. It shows 0 seconds remaining and just sits there doing nothing.
Carlo 4561 Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 Hi, what client are you seeing this in? Have you performed a full library scan? If so, can you upload your server log and let us know what tv show you were watching?
BillybobBilly 18 Posted May 22, 2021 Author Posted May 22, 2021 I have done a full library scan multiple times at this point. Weird thing is it sometimes stops playing and sometimes it doesn't. Using Emby via a web connection in my internet browser. Unfortunately I am not able to post server logs for security purposes.
Carlo 4561 Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 You could PM the logs to me instead of posting them here.
Luke 42078 Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 @BillybobBilly are you able to do this? The contents of the browser debug console would also be helpful. thanks.
BillybobBilly 18 Posted May 22, 2021 Author Posted May 22, 2021 I believe I pm'd the correct log file to Cayars. I'm not sure what the browser debug console is... If it is generated with "debug logging" enabled then I have not had this enabled previously. I will need to enable this if the log file I sent is inadequate.
justinrh 260 Posted May 22, 2021 Posted May 22, 2021 @BillybobBilly in your browser, while on the page where you experience the problem, hit F12 (or menu -> developer tools). A new pane will appear, where there will be a Console tab. If you see any errors (and maybe warnings?), copy/paste or take a screenshot. There are ways to filter for errors, but you'll have to figure out that for your browser.
BillybobBilly 18 Posted May 23, 2021 Author Posted May 23, 2021 With a little more testing this appears to be a very inconsistent issue. Some shows have the problem outright while others appear to have this issue with only specific episodes. Additionally, if I manually adjust the playback to around 1 minute remaining the video autoplays the next episode correctly. Only when the file plays for its full duration does this issue come up. @justinrh I will try this the next time I have the issue.
Luke 42078 Posted May 24, 2021 Posted May 24, 2021 For the ones that do, does it happen consistently every time?
BillybobBilly 18 Posted May 24, 2021 Author Posted May 24, 2021 7 hours ago, Luke said: For the ones that do, does it happen consistently every time? Yeah it is consistent. Prior to the update everything worked fine. I had no issues with playback of any media, and the issue seems localized to autoplay on specific shows. At first I thought maybe it was an issue with .avi files but I have had some work just fine.

I am still doing research on it to see if it happens with other file types but so far it seems to be happening, at the very least, more commonly with avi files. Because the issue doesn't seem to happen if I rush the file to the end I actually need to let shows play in the background... which is pretty time consuming. I've got my entire collection on random-play right now and I am recording each file that stops autoplay from working correctly.
BillybobBilly 18 Posted May 25, 2021 Author Posted May 25, 2021 (edited) Tested it all day today with random files and i found a solution. The issue appears to be related to watched episodes. When playing content that is watched it does not play the watched episodes and just hangs on the autoplay screen. The issue was not related to file extension. I had it come up with avi and mp4, both on series that i watch regularly. When i cleared the watch status the issue went away. In configs i have set it to play all episodes regardless of whether or not they have been viewed before. Seems to have become broken with the new update. Edit: Annnnd I was wrong. The issue still happens. Though I was playing a show that previously would not auto play at all for like 2 hours before getting the problem to come up. Edited May 25, 2021 by BillybobBilly
Luke 42078 Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Is it transcoding or direct playing when this happens?

Carlo 4561 Posted June 1, 2021 Posted June 1, 2021 Stats for Nerds while playing back (cog menu on client). On the server you can look to see if a ffmpeg file is generated for playback.
BillybobBilly 18 Posted June 4, 2021 Author Posted June 4, 2021 (edited) A little late but I have been busy. I just had a file stop autoplay and it is transcoding. I added the little arrows because copy-paste made the formatting look weird. It should be noted that the transcoding process doesn't result in any apparent issue when I'm watching it transcode from the server dashboard. Luke 42078 Posted June 9, 2021 Posted June 9, 2021 @BillybobBilly are you still having an issue with this?

I've got a few shows where it happens consistently and they are .avi files. Using Chrome browser Version 91.0.4472.106 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Carlo 4561 Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 Could you try either updating to Emby Beta 4.7.0.3 or trying to log in via app.media.emby? That will have an updated web code. Let us know if either of these work for you.
BillybobBilly 18 Posted June 17, 2021 Author Posted June 17, 2021 I upgraded to the beta. I only had time this afternoon to do one test but it autoplayed correctly. I will need to do a bit more testing though to confirm if the issue is truly gone. In my test this afternoon I sped up the video 2x speed and positioned the progress bar 75% to the end (not enough time to let it play normally) which I believe caused it to function correctly prior to the beta update as well. 1
