I recorgnized that i can't rename albums since the last update.

First Library Scan is done, but now i had to do some changes on my albums as my sorting order has gone.

If i try to rename my albums it is not saved, i checked the lock entry field is not active.

eg. "vol.1" rename to "vol. 1" but nothing happens

Because they are Tag driven so you have to edit the embedded tags on the tracks.

So the Edit Metadata option is useless for Music since the last update?

Have never used in for Music so I honestly could not say.  I always correct all issue via embedded tags so the issue can never come up again as beta testing with music required dozens of Refreshes.

@LukeShouldn't these edit options be disabled if they can't be used?

Ok because i thought local metadata info from NFO goes before anything else.
So it should be possible the edit metadata option updates the NFO file and a new scan will take the changes like we do it, but it is not updated.

I mentioned this during beta, but it was never changed. Agree that it should be disabled if it's not going to let us change via the UI. Although...I think it should allow changing from the UI and ideally write back to actual embedded tags if possible.

Emby will not WRITE tags back to your tracks.  Never has and hopefully NEVER will do this.

Why not? You already use a GUI (Picard) to write to the tags, why not use Emby?

Because Emby takes a hands off approach to touching your media.
Emby can NEVER be blamed for a media change this way.

Hmmm, I get your point. BUT, Emby also changed the approach to relying significantly on embedded tags. If that's the approach going forward, it seems reasonable to allow the user to edit the embedded tags that they're forced to update.

Perhaps but this is a massive can of worms and there are readily available programs to handle this already.

However, if the edit isn't going to work, we shouldn't allow it in the first place so that is an issue.
