@pwhodges

Kinda refreshing not to have the basic replies like "you're using it wrong".

You're the only one I can relate to.

Is this only in conjunction with the anime plugin? Because i just tested a series with non-standard naming and everything showed up correctly.

Not at all. Its local scraping from nfo. Look at post #2

4.5.4.0 works but not the latest.

In the emby metadata editor, do the episodes have a season number filled out?

No, i gave a screenshot of it somewhere in the first page. it's empty.

Being empty, it still works in 4.5.4.0

It appears you have a screenshot at the season level.

Ok so it's the combination of season with no season number + episodes underneath with both season and episode numbers. I see why that's happening.

We'll have a 4.6.1 maintenance update out early next week. If you need immediate relief I'll have the fix up on the beta channel tonight.

Wow! you found the problem with the latest update so incredibly fast!

Heck yea i can wait a week for it! Here i thought I would be stuck at 4.5.4 0 forever.

Thanks for this, you made my day. Can't wait for the update next week!

You would be able to switch over to the beta as it's only going to be the fixes from .50 so far and you likely have one of the big ones to test. :)

So you admit that there's a problem now. Interesting. Was expecting another "you're doing it wrong" though.

@pwhodgeslooks like you will have some testing to do when Luke's patch comes out also.

No matter how you look at it is a unsupported method that the dev will provide you with a solution this time.  Now be warned this may not be the case in the future.

To be honest I don't get why you are this salty nor would warrant this kind of attitude.

Having the server the way it supposed to be (4.5.4.0), isn't a big ask. It was what me and many people are running their servers with. Breaking that would be disastrous.

The dev has graciously helped me to solve this problem. I'm grateful for that.

We are all grateful the dev will provide fix for the issue but will always be with a disclaimer.

Why would it be a disclaimer. Nfo support will be eradicated from emby soon?

No but database required information my be.  So lack of proper information will result in failure.

Earlier you said unofficial stuf/features may be deleted in the future (disclaimer).

I couldn't find any official wiki regarding .nfo.

So you're saying nfo can be unsupported at any time?

Not everything in a nfo is supported by Emby but could be there for Kodi.  It has always been this way.

So technically the only supported methods are listed in the TV KB.

Gotcha. Actually i think .nfo is one of emby's strengths compared to plex. It shouldn't be erased ever.

Similarly, custom folder names comes hand in hand with custom .nfo/thumb/poster. You can't have one or another. You need both.

Customization is great but needs to be outside the realm of TV/Movies required setups as there is zero change to trouble shoot someone else's customization.

Emby uses kodi's nfo. So its kinda universal. If they are using the universal kodi standard. It shouldn't have any problems.

I get that emby doesn't support new stuff like .actors folder. But I'm not exactly asking for the new .nfo stuff. The old concrete and unbroken .nfo format should be supported always.

But it still comes back to how information is linked in the database.  As you no longer have a Season folder for episode, not Episode linking is broken also so the entire Series is broke as there is no true order linking.

But basically your Saga folders actually become series folder and their parent folder just becomes a nothing nested folder.  That is why there is so much required logic for a Series.

The underlying issue is 4.5.4.0 has it and latest does not.

So yea, even if you say this is a problem, the older version works. Therefore the new version should simply follow suit.
