Audiobook progress

Haven't had issues with this before, but recently (perhaps since the update) my progress in the playlist isn't kept.
Today I tried "pausing", then pressing the back arrow to get out of my audiobook, then exiting emby and going back in.

When reaching the playlist again, there is no green bar in any of the playlist tracks and when selecting the track it starts at the beginning.
I thought perhaps I should press the "stop" button instead (makes less sense to me but who knows), but that just ended up with the same results.

These tracks are unabridged so about 12 hours long, but I am close to 2 hours in and I know it kept track before.
Have there been changes or issues with this since the update or do I have to dive deeper into this?

Hi there, can we please look at an example?

Thanks.

Yes may need more information as I just jumped into a book and don't see any issues.  Shows in Continue Listening section on Home Screen also.

Okay, that is unfortunate (or perhaps not), but then it seems my server has picked up a weird new habit recently :(

I have tried with a few of the audio files that are on it, but none seem to retain the played position when I exit them.
Also doesn't matter if I use the pause button and back out, or hit the stop button. Though I guess stop would reset and the pause button should retain played position?

Anyway in the log below I tried both methods shortly after eachother, but in both cases it resets the audiofile.

A few weeks back it definitely did memorize the played position in the same playlist I have been listening from again this time.
I have no clue what may have changed since then, besides 1 other friend making use of it as well.

Edit: This goes for emby theater and emby android (on my phone and tablet).

Hi there, what example are we looking at in this log file? Can you please provide some discussion of it? Thanks.

The file played is Sword of Destiny from the Witcher books.
Unfortunately I can never deduce much from the log files or say for certain what happened.

In this case when I read the log it simply makes me think it should have saved the playstate:

-------

I am not sure if this actually says it is saving where I left off, but I am certain that when I open up emby again, I cannot resume from where I stopped last time.

Any idea what is causing this?
Friend of mine now has the same issue so it seems to be a serverwide problem.
He uses Iphone/chromecast, where as I tend to use android or theater myself.

The issue happens on all of them :(

Do you get the same results in the web client?  I have only test in web client without issue as shown above.

This subject is of interest to me as I listen to a lot of audiobooks but I have not been able to use Emby for that as it just will not work for me.
Note: my alternate solution works great but there is a lot to be said for centralizing everything.

My problem is compounded by the fact I need to use a client like Roku or Fire TV or Shield TV and I need that client to work and not kick you out of the book after being paused for a period of time.

But all of that becomes moot if resume does not work correctly first time and all the time. Resume is an absolute imperative or audiobooks.

I will be following this closely as I would really like to use Emby for my audio books.

Unfortunately in the web client it is worse, but not for every file.
In the web version he also doesn't save the point where you left off.
Unfortunately, with some files it even doesnt show you where you skipped forward to either, but instead shows as if it is still playing from the start 0:00.
However listening to it, it has definitely skipped forward in the book and is playing from the selected area.

Not ideal but have your tried removing and re-adding library or relocating it to a new folder?

After my post I decided to remove the audiobooks from the library folder and re-add them after a scan, and scan again.
That seems to have already fixed it. Still gives me no clue as to how it happened, but at least for now the issue is solved :)

Just gonna hope it remains this way. Thanks for the help!
