Emby app version 2.0.09g on Shield

When you 'back' out of a movie, you have to do it twice to actually get out of the library.

  1. Go into a video library
  2. scroll down a page or two (to make the problem more obvious)
  3. select a movie to see it's details page
  4. back once - observe the library page shows and the selected movie has focus (as expected)
  5. back again - observe now you are still in the library page and now the first movie has focus; but I should be at the home screen (out of the library)

Try this.  From the main menu go into movies and hold the down button to scroll down a ways.

Now hit the back button and it will take you to the top of the "grid" of movie.  This makes it easy to now get to the tabbed navigation at the top.
If you want to exit hit back again.

This is by design!

Hi.  Yes, this is by design so that you can quickly get back to the top of the grid (and access the tabs and other controls).

The Roku also has this same quirk. Press back once to snap to top. Press back again to exit. If you are already at top and press back one tap will exit.

It is to make it easy to get to the top without having to exit and enter that same view. An easier way.

If you had long-pressed the back button at that point, you would be at the Emby home screen.

Got it - it is WAD.  I find it annoying, but at least I know why it behaves that way now.  Thanks.
