C.S. 93 Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Long story short, I have an album with a single track out of 11 that emby refuses to recognize and list with the rest of the album. The only thing notable about this track is that I failed to copy it to the server initially with the rest of the album several months ago. When I realized it was missing, I figured I would just copy it over, run a scan and be done. No dice. So I removed the whole album (deleted from within emby), ran a scan, copied the album back in, and ran a scan. No dice. So then I removed the album, ran a scan, re-ripped the CD, put the new files in place, and ran a scan. No Dice. Single track (#7, not that it matters) still missing. So then I removed the entire artist along with two other albums, ran a scan, yadda yadda, no dice. What could possibly cause this? Tags are all written by EAC 1.6, the missing track is recognized and plays fine in JRMC. I've got thousands of albums all ripped and tagged the same way - the only difference here being that this particular album was first added without this particular track, so I figure this has to be a database problem. Otherwise I'm at a loss. Server version 4.5.4.0, naming scheme is Artist\Album\[track#] - [track name].flac (As I was writing this I got the idea to change the filename of the problem track before re-adding the album. No dice.)
Luke 42081 Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Hi there, can you please go over an example? Thanks.
C.S. 93 Posted May 16, 2021 Author Posted May 16, 2021 Hi thanks for the quick reply! Do you mean you want the actual filename? Other than that, I don't know what other information I could provide.
Luke 42081 Posted May 16, 2021 Posted May 16, 2021 Some discussion of that yes, along with why you think it's not being recognized.
C.S. 93 Posted May 16, 2021 Author Posted May 16, 2021 Luke, I'm sorry I re-read my post and I am a jerk, for sure. I basically said hey this is your problem, not mine, fix it. That was a dumb thing to do. I will try using picard for the tags and I'll let you know what happens. If there's any other obvious stuff I should have done before posting, let me know. Thanks.
C.S. 93 Posted May 18, 2021 Author Posted May 18, 2021 Mystery solved! It wasn't the tags. Turns out Emby is skipping songs with "sample" in the title. I took a look through my music folder and I found one other song like that, and sure enough it was also not being recognized. Not a big deal for me going forward, now that I know about it I can just change the filename, but it might be a problem for others. Out of curiosity, are there any other words being filtered?
Luke 42081 Posted May 18, 2021 Posted May 18, 2021 sample is probably the only one that you'll ever come across that will cause this. It's something that needs to be reworked a little so that it's more limited to exactly when it's needed so that this doesn't happen. Thanks for the feedback.
